i am just a bit confused. rappers like nelly or big tymers, are they distributed by universal or are they actually signed to the universal records????? people here be announcing so and so signed to universal, sony and so on but doesn't that mean just they're distributed by a bigger company? i've seen rappers like phillys most wanted, genovese, dirty "signed" by universal but barely shit is promoted or hyped up for their music. its like they forgot they signed the mufuckers. so that leaves me thinking, are they simply just distributed and the artist and their label that is in "joint venture" with them the one doing all the promoting, marketing and so on, so using their own money to create the demand? cause i was thinking why these rappers like those i mentioned who made no noise didn't make unlike nelly and so on is cause they thought universal was gonna do all their work for them? so yeah, i am on the outside looking in. cause when i hear some of the artists announce shit its like, "sure whatever" type of shit cause most likely nothing will come out of it and make as much noise as a broken kazoo.
