I dont usually like to put things out there like this as it appears to be bragging, but tonight i was so exited to recieve an Award for top student in Chicano Studies at Ohlone College in Fremont. It may seem minor to many others but it felt like a huge accomplishment that the Chicano Studies Dept. felt i was worhty enough of a nomination. But aside from recieving this award i just wanted to tell you homies out there to get into those Chicano Studies classes at your high school and colleges. I had never took any required courses at college until i took my first Chicano Studies class and it completly opened my eyes towards education and most of all knowing where we came from as a people, and the cliche saying goes and is so true for me, "you'll never know where you're going until you know where you came from". So big homies and lil homies, get your education on, its definitly worth it. Also as my teacher intro'd me on the stage he mentioned how i run a West Coast Hip Hop site and make documentaries and not only that, i was the only chicano out of over 40 students to recieve an award in their dept.. Lets begin to change the course our gente has follwed for so many previous generations.
