PRESS RELEASE / FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PORTLAND, OR – Big things are brewing in the Northwest. Portland to be exact! On July 30th, 2005 Dynasty Entertainment in conjunction with Portland indie rap powerhouse Jus Family Records, brings you the first annual Northwest Rap Summit. Held at the world famous Roseland Theatre and Grill located at 10 NW 6th Avenue
Portland, Oregon, the Northwest Rap Summit will be a historic, much needed outlet for the Northwest’s independent rap music industry.
The Northwest has long been a haven for the birth of great musical geniuses from Nirvana to Jimi Hendrix to Sir Mix A lot and multi-platinum rap producer Bosko. Never has the independent pioneering spirit been more apparent than in Jus Family Records’ founder/rap artist and Portland, Oregon native Cool Nutz. For this reason the people who put on the ultra successful Bay Area Rap Summit in April have joined forces with Cool Nutz and Jus Family Records to bring about this highly charged much needed event. MTV and other traditional media outlets have long overlooked the Northwest music industry, particularly the hip-hop scene and what it has done for hip-hop as a whole and now we are doing something about it!
The First Annual Northwest Rap Summit will be a professional, educational, and industry networking event with a focus on “how to build and succeed in the independent rap game” in today’s volatile marketplace. Guest speakers and panelists will discuss a wide range of topics that face the independent artist and label from artist development, to radio and mix shows to securing distribution. There will also be showcases of up and coming artists as well as a freestyle competitions. Heavy emphasis will be placed on the importance of networking as well as adapting to an industry that has become heavily reliant on modern technology including the internet, digital recording programs and the like.
Come out for a day of education, food, fun, networking, and a chance to meet with some of the industry’s top professionals as well as artist’s and radio personalities. All eyes are on the rap industry, so please remember this is a professional event and no negativity of any kind will be tolerated. Hopefully, this small event will give birth to a much larger and successful event with everyone’s support.
