Ok the first monies coming out from the stimulus package are for youth. If you know anyone who fits in here give them the information. We were awarded two state and federal grants:

Green Jobs and Training:
One week training for solar panel installers starts on April 27th. We offer 40 hour paid internship so employers can test you out after graduation. You will have a National Recognized Certificate in PV/Solar Installation. One of the biggest up and coming industries. The class cost $1200. For our youth it is FREE. Only Solar Panel school is in Carlsbad but we contracted with them to teach classes in San Diego. Very few people have this certification. Starting salary for PV installers $15 an hour.
Requirements are:
18-24
Live in San Diego
NOT employed at enrollment
Live in an area where there is gang involvment or gang involved

Summer Youth Employment:
3,000 youth in San Diego will recieve paid internships for up to 240 hours. Youth will work in a variety of occupations and we have contracted with the City and County of San Diego. This includes Parks and Rec.
Requirements are:
14-24
Low income household
Live in San Diego
If under 18 must be able to get work permit

A lot of people speak on the gang violence going on. We are trying to use this money to get a lot of these youngsters working and out of trouble. One of our biggest barriers is working with Meadowbrook Apartments. They will not let anyone in and don't seem to care about helping their tenants. Bay Vista has new owners but we have relationships with people living there. If you know anyone who lives in Meadowbrook let them know what's going on. That's a form of oppression for real! More money in the community equals more record sales for you guys. JOBS NOT JAIL!!

wow it sounds like yall are really tryna help the communities out with this! thats great to hear, though i dont live in san diego, it still is a positive change in the world....

shit is a mess, but its taking the steps to get out of it is what counts. How many people lost jobs? Lost houses? Lost money to crooked investment brokers? This was all before January too.

Any step to get out is good IMO.

If u r in our program we pay the money is from the government. I have 20 slots for warehouse jobs. Its only two months though. With a forklift cert. $15 without $12. We get the cert. I only filled 4 slots because these youth keep giving them dirties. We pay for the forklift cert. Job starts April 14th and its downtown. In order for this stimulus package to work people have to invest in high wage high growth industries. We have a class a license class coming up in may and hazwoper classes. This solar stuff is getting huge, it was on CNN today again. I'll post some links later I'm in my phone.
