My lil' bro-in-law lives in Canada, he was taken there by his mom when his parents divorced when he was young. Now he's an adult (19) and wants to move out here, and find a place to live. Could be a studio, room for rent, whatever... But it's gotta pay more than min. wage so he can make the rent.

I know it's a rough time to get a job, but he just wants a retail job or anything, so I figure most stores will probably hire some holiday help. He won't have any experience, and he smokes a lot. Any good ideas for places that will hire him, and as a bonus maybe won't drug test?

Honestly trying to make more than minimum wage at the age of 19 is hard.

I started my first job at 19 in retail making $9.50/hr as sales and in less than 3 years I was doing $17.50/hr as an acting manager.

We all have to start somewhere.

it's not that hard, its 2008. the apple store starts people at $12-14 an hour w/ no experience. costco starts people at almost $17 an hour with no experience. i know how it is, i was 19 once too. but if you look hard enough, you can find something. i came here to look for more ideas i maybe haven't thought of.

i started my job at $10/hr and in less than 3 years was making $24/hour as a manager.

When I worked at Big 5 i was hired as holiday help but if you can get a job full time they start at 12.50 maybe more since this was a few years ago when I was in college. Even if you are seasonal they keep some people on after the holidays.
