When I first heard that Jeff Kent said that Vin Scully "talks too much," I was willing to play fair and give the Dodgers second baseman the benefit of the doubt.

See, I figured the comment was blown a little out of proportion by LA Times columnist T.J. Simers. Even though I love Simers' sensationalist take on all things SoCal sports, I figured he was just being T.J. and having some fun with Kent.

And after seeing it spread all over blogdome, I figured bloggers were running with it to get the cheap and easy clicks.

I should have known better.

In airing his frustration with Scully over comments made that Manny Ramirez's arrival has rejuvenated Kent's stat line, the potential Hall of Famer shows again why you'd rather wake up a sleeping wolverine for a hug than embrace Mr. Personality.

Kent's other remarks Re: Scully:

• "I've been here four years and I have never seen Vin Scully down here in the clubhouse. How does Vin Scully know me? How does Vin Scully know Derek Lowe?"

• "Everyone says I'm hitting now because some guy says so on TV?"

No, those aren't the most inflammatory comments in history — or anywhere close, actually — but read the entire Simers column for a further look at why the perpetually grumpy Kent is viewed with such indifference.

Then again, when you call the greatest baseball announcer alive today just "some guy" and question his preparation for games, I'm sure you're way past the point of caring how people see you in the first place.

A big BLS head nod to SBB for the tip.

^well, to be honest, Vin Scully does talk way too much, but it has nothing to do with his baseball knowledge(which is second to none because he's been doin it since the Dodgers were in Brooklyn), its because he does 162 games by himself and is ALWAYS talking.

jeff kent is jeff kent. he doesnt hold back punches and he speaks his mind. he could give a shit about PC statements and just says what he is thinking. you got to give a guy like that credit for being himself and not being a bitch.

i thought i heard somewhere that players DONT have a choice anymore in what uniform they enter the Hall in. that that decision is up to HOF committee.

if that is the case than i say without a doubt he goes in as a Giant.

how can you guys HATE Kent but LOVE Barry. they are the same thing. only one is black and one is white? i guess the SF Giants had a pretty good PR machine to get you guys like that.

last time i checked Kent never ratted out his friends for using PED's.............like Barry? who's the bitch again?

as for Scully i too think he is the best announcer alive. one of the best in history. this is a man that paints a story about all the players while calling the game.

everything about Scully is positive. its rare these days to hear an announcer count positive stories about the the players lives on your team and the OPPOSING team. when i listen to kruk and cripe its always Giants good.....Dodgers suck......Scully calls the game from a non bias perspective and does it better than any i have heard.

LOL @ BLACK AND WHITE. If it was like that then we should be on Jeff Kunt's nuts since we "live in such a racist nation" (yeah right). He's got serious issues and you would be talkin shit too if he wasn't playing on the Dodgers. Same reverse psychology if Bonds was a Dodger.

no, im saying whats the difference between him and bonds?

you guys say Kent is a bitch. Yet, Bonds is the one that ratted out a teammate for PED's that were in HIS locker........

according to all reports Kent AND Bonds areN'T liked in their respective clubhouses. so wheres the difference. if kent is a bitch then bonds must also be?

i think kent is a breath of fresh air that pampered players in clubhouses need to put them in their place.

could it turn out to be a bad thing, yes. if he were a racist then ya he shouldnt be there but i truly believe that kent isNT.

he put milton bradley in check which led to us getting rid of him. that saved our team to a certain extent from bradleys cancerous behavior (and it also netted us Andre Eithier).
