Miles Davis-Kind of Blue (or any of 'em)
Jimmy Smith-Back at the Chicken Shack
John Coltrane-(any of 'em)
Chucho Valdez
Buena Vista Social club-this is more afro-cuban, but great anyway)
If you want a good CD for the breezies, get the 'Playboy Afterdark' double CD, great for knockin' boots
Duke Ellington
Billie Holiday
Phats Domino

p.s. Be on the look out for that 'Crytical Conditon' by Crytical off Street Level Records...

jazz ... try out Dave Brubeck - Time Out, the track "Take Five" is what got me into jazz in the first place...just like 'smell like teen spirit' got me into rock in the early 90s

Alotta this is real jazz...as opposed to smooth jazz(which i think is cheesy Kenny G crap)...jazz seems like a lost art form these days...but it doesnt get much better than Davis & Coltrane...

P.S.And yes...please pick up that Crytical...you wont be disappointed...

Louis 'Satchmo' Armstrong
BB King
Roland Kirk (this guy has mastered circular breathing and can play up to 3 brass instruments at a time, its more avant guard coltrane-esque than smooth, but he's got some smooth ishh as well)
Quincy Jones
Ray Charles
and I dont think it gets smoother than Sade...

if you want some contemporary more swing/funk Jazz check out Rebirth brass band or Kermit Ruffins
