Check out Sade's band Sweetback. Their self titled debut is heat, has a smooth jazz feel to it. Grover Washington Jr is good too.

Alotta this is real jazz...as opposed to smooth jazz(which i think is cheesy Kenny G crap)...jazz seems like a lost art form these days...but it doesnt get much better than Davis & Coltrane...

P.S.And yes...please pick up that Crytical...you wont be disappointed...
