Jayo & Jay-Z was both on Def Jam at the time it started. I remember reading that Jay-Z was telling Lyor that he shouldnt promote Jayo's song "Crip Hop". I guess because he felt it would compete with his sales. But Jayo ended dissin Jay and the Roc

that crip hop shit was on a cd from jayo after he was on def jam. i think jayo explains the beef in "trued up". he mentions jay z having a flag in his back pocket on the "change the game" video. saying "he aint a blood or a crip ill sock that nigga in his big ass lips". basically jayo started it.
