12/12/02, 7 a.m. ET) -- A new theory has surfaced in the ongoing investigation of Jam Master Jay's (Jason Mizell) murder. Police are checking possible links to the late Run-DMC DJ's business partner, Randy Allen, and his sister, Lydia Allen, a former bookkeeper for JMJ Recordings, according to sources.

Randy Allen is the beneficiary of an insurance policy taken out by himself and Jam Master Jay that apparently would pay out at least $500,000 if either partner was injured while on the job. Lydia Allen has allegedly been fingered as the individual who let Jam Master Jay's murderer into the studio where he was working on the evening of October 30.

Police are now attempting to contact Lydia Allen, who has been unavailable since Jam Master Jay's funeral, according to sources. Neither Randy nor Lydia Allen has officially been named as a suspect in the ongoing investigation, according to the New York City Police Department.

Jam Master Jay protege 50 Cent recently spoke to LAUNCH about his mentor's death. "The Jay situation, man, I don't know. It makes you know for sure that nobody is exempt--anything could happen. It's crazy. I mean, like, Jay is a good person, you know what I mean? That's not in his character to be out in the streets mixing it up--he's not like that. It was a shock," he said.
