Jason Phillps aka Jada Kiss or Mr. Raspy grew up in Yonkers, New York. Growing up as an only child Jason discribes himself as being a good kid from a solid family structure. A surprising start for an industry flooded with broken hom, battle scarred kids who have to overcome poverty, drugs, and violence just to survive. Rhyming since 8 or 9 years old, he staarted out freestyling and snapping on kids in the neighborhood. Early influences for Jada included artists such as Run DMC, The Fat Boys, Grand Puba, and later Kool G Rap, Nas, Jay-Z, and the Notorious B.I.G. When asked about the direction of Hip-Hop Jada was philosophical about it. "The face of Hip-hop changes like every 2 months, cuz the game is up for grabs right now" It wasn't lost on him that with the current care takers of the Hip-hop, The Dirty South has a heavy grip. "The Dirty is 90/10, 90 percent beat 10 percent lyrics, and up top we're used to rhyming to break beats or DJ cuts so more importance is given to lyrical content. More importantly today in Hip-Hop you gotta have a good story. Something that will lend credibility to the image you or the label is trying to sell. I been in the game when it was Pac, B.I.G, Nas, and Hova and I still maintained."

I'd whoop that nigga ass if I was from the South. 90/10... basicly he said the South aint saying shit, he just likes their beats! I'd stomp that nigga out with my swamp boots, grab my bucket of catfish, jump in my my automobile, play "Whoop That Trick", and head Yonder. But I ain't a South nigga, so hey I fell him... lightweight... cuz T.I is raw.

Jadakiss is just mad bc he is played out and nobody bumps his shit no more.

Niggas kill me when someone else gets more shine then them, they tend to talk down, hate and make rumors. That ninja turtle looking mofo needs to go to the south to revive his career.

Real Talk

Scarface, Bun-B, Eightball, Playa Fly etc, etc, theres some truly great lyricists from the South

Its a pretty ignorant thing for Jada to say, plus he is talking about 'The South' like its one place, Texas, Tennessee, Atlanta etc all got there own history, New York is one small City compared, plus a lot of early South shit (old Geto Boys / Rap-A-Lot) started out using breakbeats they just moved the fuck on with new types of production

yeah, like i said,of course there are exceptions,it owuld be dumb to put cats like cham and z-ro in that same category....but overall its really not that far off,he isnt addressing the whole undergoud south scene, just like most ppl he only knows what he hears on the radio.so as far as that goes i think he is right.

its like saying all the west talks about it weed, scrapers and bitches...there are exceptions but for the most part you can argue that too much cause thats all outsiders hear from us

its just a generalization

That might be some "hater shit" but from what's on TV, he's not fucking wrong. There are going to be artists everywhere that don't have that great of lyrics, but he was talking about the face of hip hop. Which is what EVERYONE sees, which usually doesn't include underground music or what is gaining popularity. From that standpoint he's not hating or lying.

like posted earlier, rap AS A WHOLE, IS 90% beats, 10% lyrics. since pac and biggie died, there aint TOO many rappers out there on that lyrical level. pac and biggie raised tha bar. jada was wrong pointin fingas, tha whole game is fucced. its jus a matter of opinion. fold.
