Ok to everyone who is acting like Jacka's sales aren't a big accomplishment in this day and time in this industry, lets just do a little comparison of some of the recent first week sales of Bay Area albums from some of the bigger name artists that were hyped up and highly anticipated

Keak Da Sneak "Deified" 3,828

San Quinn "From A Boy To A Man" 1,813

Yukmouth "Million Dollar Mouthpiece" 3,042

Federation "It's Whateva" 1,806

B-Legit "Throwblock Muzic" 568

That's just a few, and all of these artists are bigger names and have been in the industry longer than Jacka. No disrespect meant to these artists by posting their numbers, they are all bosses, but use this as a comparison. No Jacka didn't come out and sell 50,000 the first week, or even 20 or even 10, but shit who has recently, You can't expect that these days. The only people in the Bay who have outsold "Tear Gas" in the last few years are E-40 and Baby Bash, both worldwide major label superstars. Does it say the Bay is in a fucked up place, yes, but so is the whole industry.

And if comparing Jacka's sales to the Bay isn't enough, his first week sales outsold Juicy J from Three 6 Mafia, an Oscar Winning Platinum artist who sold 5,600.

reading the responses in this thread just makes me realize how LITTLE the users of this board know about the music industry, and why its no wonder people have abandoned Bay Area Music. One visit to this board would chase even the most jaded consumer or radio programmer away from this market entirely. sad.

jacka made a solid album, and sold a good amount. Be happy for him.

I really thought he was going to be cracking 10k status, based on the massive support from the bay on this album....I mean like Cesolito said, he obviously had a bigger budget for the album, paid a good deal for the artwork for the album, production, and features.....

But hey, its something, at least its gotten on charts....

On a side note, damn, San Quinn's last album did 1000 in the first week??? Goddamn

Which had ZERO promotion...i didnt even know he HAD an album til someone posted the cover on here THE DAY it came out. Jacka got promoted almost to the point of ANNOYANCE.

Its fucked that people have to justify low numbers...it really shows the industries ass off. Like i said, im glad im not an artist in the day and age.

granted better music came out then

again congrats to Jacka like C-4 said no one besides E-40 and Bash will outdo those first week numbers from the Bay.

Jacka got promotion on The Siccness but not nationally so I think we deserve a lil' credit for those numbers.......Lets not act like The Jacka is a household name, has ever been on the radio (outside a very few markets), and has ever been on national TV......Unlike others......So there is really no comparison.......

jacka definitely made more last year in a month of verse and show licks directly in his pocket when "all over me" dropped then him, his entire management team and smc made combined from the first week sales of tear gas after expenses....his expenses for verse and show licks is like 1000 a week on yush and next to nothing on gas food or anything else...and he was getting 500 and 1000 verse and 1000 and 1500 dollar show licks on an almost daily basis...i didn't even think they were gonna drop album ever, jus keep dropping singles and doing shows n verses

i personally dont give a fuck how much he sells, the album was worth buying, tear gas was the first cd i bought this year

this right here is a great statement and people need to pay attention to it. one of the reasons music is fucked up is because there are no fans left, everybody is involved or thinks they are involved in some way. everybody is a fuckin arm chair A&R and thinks they know what should or shouldn't be happening. people need to go back to knowing how to just be a fan and if you like someone's music, just like and appreciate it, don't judge them cuz they aint platinum. shit is ass backwards, people get judged on sales instead of quality.

This is Funny.....JACK had so much more hype and build up and promo then any of these, even MDMP.....with that said, he wiill NEVER...EVER sell more records than YUK!!! So for all the HYPE and Features and 4 years in the making, I guess I can say, I expected more, no just more sales but a better fuckin album. Again, befor eyou hate, I supported this album, I guess thats why I think I coulda spent my $10 elsewhere
