This Tebow circus just got worse. Now he is a New York Jet......LOL

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000...jets-acquire-tebow?module=HP11_headline_stack

Sometimes you just have to take a step back and appreciate the ridiculousness of what is actually happening in the NFL world around us.

Peyton Manning is a Denver Bronco. Jay Glazer of FOX reports the New York Jets have traded a fourth-round pick for Tim Tebow. This actually happened.

If you had predicted this sequence of events just two months ago, your friends might stop talking to you. As a resident of New York City and a student of the back page tabloids, this is all so delicious; I can barely believe it's true.

The New York Daily News came strong Wednesday with their Timsanity cover. Tebow in the big city will make Jeremy Lin's New York run like a cute opening act.

So why would the Jets want Tebow?

Apparently, the team believes Tebow's magical healing powers could unite a divided locker room.

"Bringing in a guy like (Tebow) would help," one source told Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com. "It makes perfect sense."

Except it makes no sense at all. The Jets fanbase will howl for Mark Sanchez's dismissal after his first off-target pass of the year. (So roughly the first quarter of the first preseason game.) Tebow factions will emerge on the team, in the media, and certainly among Jets fans.

Sanchez, for one, sounds like a Tebow fan.

"I think Tim will do great no matter what happens," Sanchez said on the Petros and Money Show Tuesday.

This happened, of course, before Sanchez knew he'd be teammates with Tebow. The hosts didn't press Sanchez about Tebow possibly joining the Jets, but the USC grad doesn't sound ready to learn a new offense as a "Wildcat" option.

"I don't know if I'm very good splitting out like that," Sanchez said, laughing. "I don't like coming off the field."

He might have to get used to it. Sanchez recently said he regretted comments that connected his new contract to his status as a leader of the Jets.

With Tebow now landing in New York, Sanchez's leadership is under attack once again.

I think Sanchez is a good QB, but i think he may need to go somewhere else now. Like Frisco maybe.

Sanchez is a starter in this league. IMO

Didn't sanchez just get a contract extension? He's not going anywhere. Pretty sure Tebow was not brought in to be the starting qb

After word spread rapidly Wednesday that the New York Jets had acquired quarterback Tim Tebow from Denver for draft picks, the teams have encountered a hang-up in the language in Tebow's contract that could nullify the trade, a Broncos source tells ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

In Tebow's contract is a $6.2 million salary advance, of which $1.2 million already has been paid by Denver, sources told Schefter. The difference of $5 million is still advanced against his future salary, and that burden would shift to the Jets in a trade. The Jets, sources said, believe the Broncos should owe Tebow that money.

SportsNation: Tebow to Jets?
The Tim Tebow trade to the Jets has hit a snag, but both teams are sitll hopeful. Could Tebow unseat Mark Sanchez as the starter?

The trade, then, will not be finalized until the sides resolve their differences over which should pay the money coming to Tebow.

The teams agreed to the terms of the trade -- the Jets dealt fourth-round and sixth-round selections in 2012 in exchange for Tebow and a 2012 seventh-rounder from Denver -- before the Broncos asked New York to pay back a portion of bonuses and salary already paid to Tebow, sources told Schefter.

An NFL source said the Jacksonville Jaguars have made an additional play to get Tebow after initially trying, and failing, to land the former Heisman Trophy winner earlier Wednesday. League sources told Schefter on Wednesday afternoon that Tebow is expected to land with either the Jets or Jaguars.

ESPN initially reported that the St. Louis Rams could be a landing place for Tebow, but sources later indicated that the Rams are not serious contenders.

Tebow grew up in Jacksonville and played his college ball nearby at the University of Florida.

The Jaguars passed on drafting Tebow when he came out of college in 2010 and then traded up to draft Blaine Gabbert last season and called him a "franchise quarterback." Gabbert struggled mightily, and the team blamed his problems on receivers and coaching.

Coach Jack Del Rio was fired in November, the same day the team was sold to Illinois businessman Shahid Khan. Before the Super Bowl, Khan said in a radio interview that he would have drafted Tebow and indicated he would consider bringing in Tebow if he became available.

"I share your sentiment," Khan said to a caller who said he hoped the Jaguars would consider Tebow. "When is the next time Jacksonville is gonna have an athlete like Tim Tebow?"

Tebow, drafted by Denver with the No. 25 overall pick in 2010, went on the trading block Monday when the Broncos secured free agent quarterback Peyton Manning, who signed a five-year, $96 million contract.

The timing of the trade is curious for New York.

Two weeks ago, the Jets gave Sanchez a three-year, $40.5 million contract extension, professing their faith in him even though he regressed in certain areas last season. They signed former Detroit Lions backup Drew Stanton last week to be their No. 2 quarterback, handing him a $500,000 signing bonus. They also have former Alabama star Greg McElroy.

The Jets see Tebow as a change-of-pace player with the ability to run the wildcat offense. They've used the wildcat in recent years, but cut back last season with the departure of Brad Smith. The new offensive coordinator is Tony Sparano, who introduced the wildcat to the NFL as coach of the Miami Dolphins.

Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Namath, who led the Jets to their only Super Bowl title in 1969, was among those unhappy with the deal when he heard.

"I'm just sorry that I can't agree with this situation. I think it's just a publicity stunt. I can't go with it. I think it's wrong," Namath told "The Michael Kay Show" on ESPN1050 in New York. "I don't think they know what they're doing over there."

Asked if he hoped the deal would ultimately fall through, Namath said "absolutely."

"And I'm a Tim Tebow fan, but I'm a bigger Jet fan than I am a Tim Tebow fan," Namath said.
