Men specifically. They do this little head shake when they are talking. Its not quite a nod, and its not like they are shaking their head no. Its kind of in between. Especially when they are trying to make a point, they do this little head shake. You know what im talking about?

They do this to signal that the "ghost is clear" for their friend around the way to ignite his stack of dynamite strapped to his chest.

I had an indian lady try to haggle with me when I worked at a clothing store. I had to explain that we don't haggle. She got very upset with me and told me I had just lost her business forever.

My friend Kashen is indian, but born here. His parents are very quiet and polite, but they nod their heads for no reason when you talk to them. So, his uncle was doing that to me one time and never even replied to me when I was done talking. I was confused. So then, right in front of his uncle, Kashen says to me, " He doesn't understand a word you're saying." Turns out he was just nodding politely because I was talking.

well, every culture has its habits. filipinos like to scratch their heads when they're stuck on a question and with indians, the nod is just in their culture some movement about some agreement. in this old TLC documentary, called the human animal. it talked about different cultures tendencies. it showed that desi people tend to sway theire heads side to side when they're in agreement; where as in north america is the standard forward back nod. also, in europe people tend to want to help someone if they see a person hurt whereas a north american will just walk around you and leave you alone
