First: Who do we relate American made cars to?
Answer: Cops + The Government.

The USA citizens have shown in polls and daily conversation that they are not really in favor of everything the gov. is invlolved with around the world and its practices. What do you do when you have someone admirable to look up to? You imitate them. The same should hold true to an extent in an opposite scenario. I think that a part of declining American Car Sales are due to the fact that people are unhappy with the government and do not wish to follow their example. All auto makers are showing declines in sales, but more people are buying foreign models because they see the cops and government officials sporting Chevy Malibus and Ford Crown Vics on the streets and more importantly on t.v.

What percentage of the American Auto Makers do you feel is being lost to foreign auto makers from this fact stated above?

not a single one. american cars are flat out not built very well. they are POS. why buy a pos car when you can purchase a japanese vehicle for the same price with 5x the reliability and it will hold its value longer

toyota already makes an awesome truck, but its too expensive compared to american trucks. just wait until they figure out how to produce them with lower overheads and that'll be it for the american auto industry

People aren't buying american cars because they're shit. If i wanted a car made mostly out of plastic I'd buy one of these

Just wondering, do you find they arent reliable from personal experience?

I have had mostly American cars. I had a Ford Taurus that never died. I put over 30,000 miles on it a year. It was wrecked 2 times. I even drove it while it was totaled for months and it kept going lol. I still own 2 Grand Ams. Never had too much go wrong there. For 4 years, My GF had a VW Jetta Wolfsburg that I had worked on every f'n month almost just to keep it running. Ive had a Chevy Lumina which never died til it was wrecked. I drove an Eagle Summit in 1996 which was Mitsubishi and it ran perfect for years. Never owned a pickup truck. Ive just never had bad luck with cars I guess.

lol @ the plastic car ^^^

Yes the Tundra is excellent with it's higher price tag, 600lb less payload capacity, and worse fuel economy than the Sierra .
