I dont know about where your at but the weather here in SD has been pretty fuckin hot for the past couple weeks, triple digits in some places. Consider this an informative post if you already didnt know.

If all you do is put gas in your car and go this thread is for you. Take heed to this and I/this thread will most likely save you ie; tow truck cost, head gasket repair($1200-$1600), new engine/rebuild($$$$$$$$$), OR a whole new fuckin ride($$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$).

I would talk but I'll leave it to the expert M @Mobbin Thru 925 TheCarGuy M @moefiya tube to explain the grits and gravy. After watchin this video I discovered that both of my electric fans on my car are not working...smh. Relay or fuse possibly?....fans?..we'll see.

But yea...watch this video, SAVE $$$$$$.

Sidenote: I know this isnt the holy grail but I'm fuckin with it.

if you ever on the freeway and your cars temp starts to go up,turn all your windows down and blast the heater..you'll see the temp go down to normal and will give you enough time to get off to fix whatevers wrong without fuckin up the engine.

Real talk, that heater shit works and will get u by, its by no means a long term solution.....it will be your radiator, radiator hose, thermostat or water pump that usually causes overheating,

Replacing a thermostat is a $12 part and 75 in labor...lol...depending on your car u might be able to do it yaself.....waterpumps and radiators, id leave it to the pros's....

Check your coolant, keep some in the trunk always, i dont care if you drive a 2013 car....theres just some must have things in ya trunk, jumper cables, basic tools, a jack, coolant, and a good quality handgun

Yeah, and if its ya head gasket......dont plan on it being cheap, $4 part, 400 in labor...hahahahaha
One way to see if its ya head gasket is to check your oil cap, if you have a white mayonnnaise looking gunk on the inside of the cap, its your head gasket....it can be slightly foamy but it will definitely be noticeable....

Head gasket going out is a FML day....

2000 pontiac grand am 3.4L... Took in to local mechanic they tested it, took it for a spin n could not figure out whas wrong...

Problem is it overheats... Gets hot either medium to lomg lengths on freeway or when its driven up steep hills or not-toosteep but long grades/slants...

Mechanic sez its not thermostat or tranny oranything they ran all tests...

But like surcaliman sed, i been doin that runnin it on hot days wit heater blastin, but alot of the time it blows cold air eventho its on full-blast heat.

Its been drivable lately for short short distances and last few times its overheated on the freeway ive pulled over and waited about 15-20 mins and it cooled off enough to scrape out another few miles

O and the last time heater was blowing cold was 3 yrs ago when it turned out to be a blue head gasket... Which sounds weak but last time i got it fixed for $400 total, pontiac dealership had it around $1600... But still... Fkn pain in the ass

I started noticing a couple of weeks ago that my car started overheating creeping above 216 degrees(digital readout) and I thought it was my thermostat sticking closed. But after watching that video I decided to check my fans. I re-created the problem by driving on the freeway for a length of time and then sat and let the car idle for a few minutes. Temp started going up over 200(usually at 200 it will start going down under these circumstances) so I get out just to see if the fans are going and nope....both of them are just chillin when I know at least 1 should be spinnin by now. So I'm gonna start by pullin the fuse checkin it and changin the relay($10-$15) and I hope that solves it. Hopfully both the fan motors arent blown.
