I am a long time fan of Bay Music. I frequent this particular board quite often. I am having a debate with someone in the Northwest forum about if there bay scene is still thrivin and if there is unity. I do not live in the bay, however I chop it up with a few artists and producers from the bay. I also see all the posts on here as well.

Can you guys fill me in on your take in regards to the bay music scene.

PEACE & BLESSINGS

Not really at all. Pretty much a dog eat dog situation anymore where loyalty lasts about as long as it takes for your bank account to drain. Most of the dudes that scream 'bay unity' are the last to put their money where their mouth is and many of the ones that complain about 'hating' and 'snitching' are the first to assassinate your character off a few sips of a wine cooler LOL...so do you and hopefully you carve your own unique niche.

I can dig it. Would you say that the bay scene is still thrivin'?

Not at all. There's a pulse but it's barely there...some may argue with me but they must not think I can see true sales. There are a few dudes realllllly pushin it and I pray they can make it to the next level, I truly do. The problem is, there's 400 other 'rappers' wasting space that do NOT pray for the next man's success. So no, there is nothing thriving except the unkillable spirit of wanting to create and express through music.

The Bay is unified in not being unified. It's as if our region gave up all hope. The closest we come to unity is when a 40 album drops (and based on the numbers even that is not so tight knit). There needs to be a leader in the Bay that is NOT a rapper, but a supporter of rap. Rappers NEVER put other rappers on. They only do it when there is an economic gain coming there way and that normally means they are signed to their fledgling independent label. The bay should have woke up years ago when the spotlight was on us, but it didn't happen and the drought season is really happening inside Bay Area rap.

see just facts bro... Im not even trying to shit on your parade man...
I don't think you are trying to shit on my parade. I just get different information then what I am getting on this board. Some say the bay scene is thrivin. some say it is not. But the fact remains, that the bay keeps releasing music and there is a fan base for the music.

It's good to know, though.
