I thought this might me an interesting topic of discussion considering that Tech is about to release his most highly touted album of his career.

Is Tech in the prime of his career now? Do you think the best is yet to come or has it passed? I am interested to hear what you guys think and why.

fans from mid 90s will say he lost it. (Some fans, not all) New fans will say they love what he is doing. I am in the first group of fans from late 90s but i dont think he lost anything. He changed and adapted with the game. If he didnt he would not be where he is right now. I like his old stuff and i like his new stuff. Early to mid last year i said 2011 is going to be a big year for Strange because of everything they were doin. Just glad to see he is making it and cant wait for the new releases from the camp.

Hard to tell…
After this album, he might get a lil more bigger depending on how well it does or is perceived

Or this just might be his peak

I’m hoping he does this mainstream album to grab a bunch more fans, then goes back to his old antics. (Whens the last time he rapped backwards?) There is enough mainstream garbage out there and I don’t want Tech slowly slipping into that category just cuz he has money now.

i dont think he will fall out for awhile, saying he is in his prime, i think he still has alot left even after this. His life is music, thats all he pretty much is on, so it isnt slipping anytime soon. Other rappers hit that big mark and disappear for awhile and think they still got it when they lost it. I dont see it happening to him until he stops touring

Being that this album is gaining as much attention as it is getting, I think Tech will bring his A+game. "All 6's and 7's" will either be one of Tech's best work as of yet or fit somewhere between those other albums that only have a few songs making the iPod cut. Guest appearances are nothing new to us but, although some are still rumored, we are going to see some more guests that we have been waiting to hear on a Tech song. The downfall with guests is they can easily change a song from being listenable to being skipable. If the guests do what they are good at, I do not see how this album will not live up to its hype.

I cannot say whether or not Tech is in his prime just yet; I think he is still on his way up. He will gain more exposure after this album and continue to meet other people in the industry. His music may just be getting ever better. I can only judge his prime once I have seen a downfall in his music completely and he has become a retired artist.

Congratulations on all you and Strange have accomplished thus far, Tech. After giving me the opportunity to meet you years ago, giving off a good impression towards me as a fan and hooking me up the way you did, I can only speak highly of you as a person. A great amount of your fans appreciate you for being the person you are. I wish you nothing but the best.

Wouldn't say all that.
Great rappers still sound great if they collab with him. It's not like he's SO amazing that no one else is good.

That being said, I feel his career could go either way at this point. He could continue to bring the A-Game, or he could drop off. It's the same with every rapper, though. We never know how or what a rapper will do after their last album. KanYe for example. Dude released a dope album. And then he did 808's and Heartbreaks, and then released one of the dopest albums of 2011.

You never know how good an artist will be until they release their next album.

i think what makes Tech interesting (or maybe it is because i have been listening for so long) is that it seems like each album is a different period of music. Anghellic sounds different than AP, which sounds different than Everready, which sounds different from Killer, etc.

Then there is the time between his 'album periods'....collabo albums, samplers and promos, etc.

I think there is no way to say he has peaked or will be peaking....he will continue to make music and (hopefully) that music will continue to change as he changes. As he grows older, goes through different experiences, meets new people, etc.

I see the albums as a snapshot of his life at that moment....that will continue.

EDIT: Also, wanted to add....good topic post...its good to see someone not posting something OT, relevant, and it isnt just a link to an article or twitter post.

Tech is getting older and he knows he getting closer and closer to the end so i think this album is techs biggest effort to hit the mainstream status i just hope he stays true to his skillz and doesnt turn into a big pile of crap. But if any artists can dip into mainstream while staying good than its tech n9ne so guess its just fingers crossed and see what happens.

Atleast when tech n9ne retires he will start dropping the dozen or so material on Vintage Tech Vol 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and so on lol tech wont stop selling

Fuck that. Good rappers in general are getting older, that doesn't mean he's going to retire anytime soon. He is in the original gangsta rapper era and most of them haven't retired, they own that generation of music. As long as they can bring something fresh to the table I see no sense in retiring.

I don't think Tech is going anywhere anytime soon. In all honesty I have loved every single one of Tech's albums he has ever came out with. It's always been "Tech" on each song doing his approach to "mainstream" music or "hardcore" - "underground" or "gangster" rap. I don't think he has fallen off one bit or will fall off because even his "falling off" music (to some people) to me is still the N9ne I was so drawn to back when I first picked up his albums. Of course A track off of GMP will sound different than Anghellic, that's a huge period of time and a whole different type of album. Artist's evolve, and it's not like we still don't get some grimy shit from him on a consistent basis. I've never once been let down as a fan so if after 9 years of listening to him he suddenly starts to lose it, I'd be very surprised. Another way I look at it is: this will be his what, 12th album in 10 years, 11 years? He puts out more material than most artist's I know, and as a fan, I couldn't ask for anything more or better.

Truly am excited for All 6's and 7's.

I tried to be as much as a non dick-rider in that post as possible but it honestly is how I feel.

I'm with you on this and i've been a fan a little longer than 9 years.

I feel like he has kind of hit a plateau sales wise. Without pushing radio play I dont think he can realistically move a ton of units. I haven't seen much difference in sales growth over the past few albums to think that this album will be recognized with a staggering jump in sales compared to them. Without a new marketing strategy I feel this album will end up like all this rest, a great product that never moves as many units as it should.

He hasn't lost anything talent wise, but I think he has lost some of the hunger. That's part of becoming an established artist tho. Once you have achieved a goal most people don't feel the need to keep pushing themselves.

I feel you on that. I think people like us have a very skewed opinion though. Being from Kansas City we have been waiting for this for fucking EVER. It seems like there is no growth, even if his album sales have been going up and up. You got to understand though that his reach is far stronger now though. MTV, VIBE, XXL it's a whole different ball game. It may not seem like his sales are different, but charting off 2 E.P.s and a mixtape is major compared to what some cats do. Dude has gained alot of fame within the last 6 months to a year. I think this will sell very well compared to other albums. I don't think it will go platinum or even gold... fast.

Truthfully I don't give a fuck how it goes, it's fuckin awesome seein Tech all over the news and nationally and internationally known. It's weird to me. Especially remembering listening to "lets get crumped up" on the radio LOL. Ever since listening to the RDV's and tech's shit with midwestside I knew that he was gonna do something major. It just took A WHOLE LOT MORE FUCKING TIME than I thought.
