Or maybe it is because, he'd much rather get paid only a couple hundred thousand to fight BJ Penn, rather than 2 million he was originally gonna make off the Pierre fight?

No way do I believe that Nick Diaz "didn't understand the importance" of press conferences and media days. No way possible they just forgot to tell him how serious it was to be there. I'm sorry but I also don't buy the social anxiety shit, you can go out in front of a crowd full of people, talk shit to the dude all during the fight with no problem, but you can't sit at a mic in front of reporters and fans?

Whatever the case Diaz screwed only himself as I think a more deserving challenger got the shot anyway.
