Art is ingrateful. All great artists suffer a curse that leads them to be stereotyped both in a positive n' negative way because of one particular work they did. I think that's the case with Lynch whom I never think of "eatin' babies" whenever mentioned. Instead I think of flow, character n' originality.

@ Haroon

We can forever debate on what is art and what isn't... There are paintings like Courbet's "The Origin of The World" you may not consider to be art, yet you can find it at the museum. Had it been in "Playboy" mag would it still be art? No.

Or take Hendrix' "Manic Depression" which sounds horrible. But when you link it to the title, all of a sudden it makes sense... Conclusion, I think the author's intent and the medium used to express his/her concept counts...

Mr. Doctor once said the eating and killing of babies was metaphorical because by taking someone's life you're killing a mother's infant. Lynch portrayed it in a violent and horrifying way and through a musical medium that lead fans talking about it years after...

There's a brutal side and power to art.
