You would be terrorizing the child.

Good word use.

You can also say the US Armed Forces are the biggest terrorist organization(s) in the world...seeing that the US forces occupy damn near every single country in the world.

Depends on how old the kid is, if they're under 18 (maybe between the 13-16 age range, depends on how developed the child's brain is), no because that's your child and you should make the right choices (in your eyes) for that child. If they are over 18(or 13-16), no doubt they're thinking for themselves and can choose weather or not to follow the religion of their parents choice. And is it not in some people's beliefs that if they don't follow "the right path" they'll be sent to hell? They're just following their beliefs by teaching that to their children.

Wait, wait, if the parents were pushing their kid toward homosexuality or something of that sort, they would be immediately accused of child abuse

But when they're setting their child for a life in some ridiculous delusion, it is not, it is their right to do so...

Why?

Never heard of someone being accused of forcing their son/daughter to be gay, but then again I never said anything about being gay, we're talking about religion here right? And no it's not child abuse for teaching something that they believe is right because that's their believes. The first amendment says you have the right to whatever religion you want right? So why is it terrorism to pass the beliefs down to your child? They have as much freedom as to reject those beliefs but they probably won't realize that until their minds are developed. Remember we're talking about religion not sexual orientation or anything else.

if i remember right, a chld gains most of his beliefs between 1-7 years of age, these are not good years to preach to a kid because thats when their basically just adopting beliefs. i think once a kid is old enough to understand theory, and choose what he/she wants to believe, then its fine to tell them that, but i believe in god, i believe in hell, and i still partially agree with what your saying, it makes me sick almost when i see little kids like 2 years 3 years old waving a flag for jesus, its like, that kid couldnt pick out jesus from barney, so that is brainwashing, and terrorism if you wanna call it that

Psalm 23: The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want.....

Teach the Kid the Love of God, teach the Kid that they should not want but be submissive and good. When they get older teach them the wrath of God. That he who God loves, he chastens and Rebukes for correction. Don't scare kids to God

i think its only wrong if you force your beliefs on the child in a harmful manner that can affect the childs life

if its your child than you can raise the child as you see fit, its your "right"

they have no freedom, you are not able to judge things when you're 5 years old, it is an evolutionary adjustment, that helped children learn quickly that what was dangerous and what was not by following their parents uncritically

you are not likely to reject what you learned at a very early age for the rest of your life unless it's something really ridiculous (like Santa Claus). Not that religion isn't ridiculous, but you're not likely to realize it in a society that is not only mostly positive about religion but is also hostile against atheism

you are doing harm to your children if you raise it to be religious, it is a fact that there is an inverse correlation between religiosity and education status and it is a two-way correlation, i.e it is not only because educated people lose their faith

on the other side, there is a pretty good correlation between education status and wealth, a correlation that is likely to be reinforced in the future as society becomes more and more dependent on science and technology...

@ThaG, take your mindset off the evolutionary crap, and just think like a human for a change and not like a robot. I agree, you shouldn't force kids to believe in something at a young age because they aren't able to fully comprehend what you say. It'll make them believe in God because he's some boogy man, or anything for that matter, even if it isn't God. It is not harmful to raise your kid in religion, same can be said for a kid being raised up in science. Theres always a bad and good
