The hooks that Kaliko does are very versatile. His voice is amazing, and I've yet to hear other performers (mainly because I don't do RnB) that can sound like Dean Martin, Corey Taylor, and Gerald Levert on consecutive tracks. He's an amazing talent. He's like the Mike Patton of rap music.
With that said, back when Absolute Power came out, Kaliko was the main reason I stuck around for some songs that didn't meet my criteria for a good beat. He's done his job as a versatile and enormous asset for Strange Music, but limiting him on tracks wouldn't be such a bad idea. Bishop Lamont is a name we will probably all be familiarizing ourselves with soon enough, seeing as he's Dr. Dre's newest protoge'.
The reason Kutt's album gets so much love from me was because of the different RnB elements mixed into the songs. I definitely see things a little more openly than I use to. But if Tech's albums continue to sell more than the last, don't expect Kaliko to take much of a back seat. Remove Krizz from some older tracks and you remove the ambience completely.
