I forked out some cash and went and bought a 20 GB, 4th Generation yesterday. My question is in order to hold the maximum amount of songz do I have to convert the songz into MP3 format first before loading them onto the player? I am mainly using songz out of my CD collection that aren't loaded on my computer. If so, how do I go about doing this (converting into MP3)? My other question is in order to list a full CD under Genre, Artist, or Album do I first have to load the full CD on to the computer in it'z own separate folder and then load it into one of these categories? I already know how to click the plus sign in the lower left hand corner and load them that way but that is not what I'm wanting to do. I want to be able to search through my iPod by Artistz. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

iTunes should do the artist song title and genre all for you. When you put a CD in, just highlight the song title and then drag them to your library. It rips them at about 10x speed for me. Then the next time you connect your iPod it will update.

There could be an easier way seein as how I'm iPod n00b. Maybe someone can teach us a better way.

what jay deuce said. when you put a cd in your computer, itunes will get all the info (artist/album/tracks) you might have to change the genre. if it's not in their database, you can select the cd in itunes and 'get info' on it and add all the info yourself. go to the preferences in itunes and under importing, select mp3 or whatever you want and select the bitrate. then hit the import button and it'll convert all the songs into whatever format you selected into your playlist. i manually add songs to my ipod instead of automatically updating, so i just drag whatever albums i want from my playlist to the ipod icon
