Have any of you played with this. It simulates the market with real data. They start you off with a $100,000 to see if you can make money. I've toyed with it off and on for about 6 months now. I'm almost back to my original 100,000 HAHAHAAAA.

I took advantage of yesterdays selloff to buy a ton of stocks and it actually paid off. strange how the market works. (Just sold everything again) short term gains work better than that long term diversification shit.

The market forces you to pay attention to all the companies you buy/sell and all the factors that contribute to their performance. you can passively play and MAYBE get lucky. But playing without knowing the "rules" and you'll go broke quick. The closest game you can play to the stock market on a rudimentary level is Texas holdem (one of the reason's it has been so popular). It follows some similar dynamics. If you can make yourself see the similarities you'll start understanding the economics of supply and demand and the factors that distort them i.e. lies, stupidity, and fear.

I think that would be fun and interesting but I doubt average siccness member would be ready for the game (or interested).

If someone else starts a group i'd be willing to join though.

No doubt. I finally went positive $739 after six months. It's not an easy game LOL. but I think I'm starting to "get-it" now. If I can get up to 200,000 I'm going to play the real deal.

really? how many shares and when did you buy? Sirius is an extremely cheap stock. if you bought a thousand last year you'd be making like $2000 right now. it's only 7.11 per share? if you bought in 2003 you'd be making like 5-6k.

I'm curious. unless you bought 10s of thousands of it when it was dirt cheap you really aint making enough on sirius to be excited. If you gotta wait 5 years for the company to be worth only a few thousand bucks you'd be better off with a side hustle.

I'm not dissing. I'm just saying. 1 dollar to 7 dollars is garbage for stock. in a 3-5 year period. that's like buying rhat or sunw. if you bought it a couple years ago at that price and it was like 26 dollars per share I'd be asking for your brokers phone number.

basically without a $10k investment into sirius 3-5 years ago your portfolio value is the price of a used car.

now, kb homes on the other hand, if you bought that last year you're BALLING right now.

goddamn! (whar's your brokers number)

I bout 1000 share of sirius when it was at like 5.00 a share. over the past few weeks, its been shootin up. I think its at 7.11 right now. so I made a couple thou off that.. but Im gonna sit on that for a while... Im hopin it will hit 40-45 (where XM stands right now) within a couple years.
I aint ballin by no means..lol. Im just excited cuz as of right now, all my stocks seem to be doing well. I guess Im just gettin lucky.

I dont have a broker. I basically just took a few ecomonic classes, read up on some companies, and decided to invest.

I got KB when it was at like 50.. shit was expensive per share, so I didnt buy too many. I think I invested about 2 thousand into it. I've made... not even a thousand I dont think. but I also just recently bought about 500 share of sonic wall... bought it at 5.30 I believe.. its already at 6.00 and I havent even had it for 2 weeks. so Im happy with that.

Im gonna sell KB real soon.. the housing market isnt gonna keep rollin like it is. theres no way.

you bough stock without a broker???? you're a sav for that shit. I'd chunk about half of them sirius shares before the tide starts waning. You're playing for the long run. I'll ask you a question. How long do you think satellite will be poppin and a superior source of media in the next couple of years??? the housing bubble I belive is going to be steady until the third quater when interest rates start really jumping up. I'd hold KB for a little while longer. if you bought it at $50 the P/E is lovely! for you. It's better than sirius by far. you'll lose less money with it if the market starts slipping. make your soon = september.

yeah, I just started an account at etrade.. it's easy as hell.. they make it real easy for ya.

I dont think sirius is gonna drop down too much. I dont think its gonna keep surging like it is.. but I doubt it will fall below 6.50. I think 2006, its really gonna take off. I think they're gonna get a lot more subscribers once howard stern is on air.. some people cant live with out him. I think sirius will go up for a while until a) it splits or b) they merge with xm. Either way, I see it as a win/win situation. I bought a put option today once I saw it was dippin a little.. sure as shit, its down 15 cents now and I made money off it.

I didnt put nearly as much money into KB as I did sirius.. so Im obviously not makin as much money. KB was at 2 bucks a share at one time.. imagine investing a few thou in it back then.. goddamn.. you'd be a rich man.

I think the next couple years, its safe to say that technology is going to advance... so I'm trying invest in technology. in innovative technology. thats what I like about sirius, they're innovative. and they got balls. once they get out of debt, there's nothing holding them back.

So far since market open this morning my Aerospace/Defense and Brazilian companies are all in the green since i bought them(at too high a price).

If anyone wants to start a siccness game i'm down.

If only I knew about this site when I was taking financial accounting. Financial accounting really helps you make the right decisions in investing. If you know financial accounting or studied it, you can look at a company and see how it's doing not just by points going up and down which can be really deceiving. You can see how much profit they are making, how well or efficient they are using their resources and what not. What's making their shares go up and what's making it go down. I studied financial accounting off this book a year ago, damn near forgot everything. I wish I could give you all a more in depth explanation on how financial accounting helps you in investing but I didn't study too hard nor too well and it's been well over a year. Basically it teaches you how to interpret the data on a company's financial report which you can get free off a companies website.

I paid $130 plus for that text.
