Whats good everybody? Im new to this forum, and was introduced to it by one of my patnas. Just thought I'd make my first post an introduction...
My name is Danny the IIIrd, AKA "Lil Link" born in Pittsburg, CA currently living near San Francisco .. I gave myself this nickname when, around age 12, my Mom told me my Father's (Danny Jr.) nickname was "Link." 17 now, I have been rapping, writing poetry, and creating various forms of physical art (such as graffiti and paintings) since around the same time I gave myself this name. I was inspired by my Father to begin rapping-- not because he told me to do it but because he was kept away and a secret from me until about age 14. Between him being incarcerated in various penitentiaries and state prisons throughout my young life, and my Mom keeping his and her own past a secret from me in order to "protect me" and "keep me away from negative influences", I had no idea what my Father looked like until I had met him at 14. I continue to create music with hopes of inspiring others, particularly the younger audience, and giving hope to those who are facing, or have faced situations similar to the one I have described. Let it be known that my music is not me "crying about my past," rather it is a celebration of how far I have come, and the progress that I have made in my own life as I have now not only met my Father, but initiated a relationship with him as well.
I discovered the fact that my Father, too, has been involved with music after I began to write poems and rap verses as a young teenager. Ironically, before I knew this I had already began to write about rapping my father whom I hadn't yet met. Truly, I have been blessed with the miracle of art for in my mind there are no coincidences.
This year, I have begun recording a sort of "rough draft" version of my Debut Album which I have chosen to title "Black Planet. The reason why it is a rough draft is because I currently don't have the equipment to professionally record an album. Because of this I have taken a chance in recording with what I have-- a webcam and Garage Band. If you take the time to listen to my music, you will find that 99% of the lyrics are understandable, yet the sound quality on my currently recorded tracks isn't up to par with what you may hear on the radio. Its a start.
As I start hearing from people on here Ill explain more about the title of the album, "Black Planet." But for now, Ill provide the link incase anyone is interested in checking out my work so far. I appreciate the time that anyone takes to read this.
