only gang i feel the need to put down for is my family.. at a young age, a youngster may see that excitment of a bangin lifestyle. but when u get older, and go thru changes such as drug problems, parenting, health issues, and so on, family will be there for u as long as u made them a priority. family is also the only thing worth dyin for. more people should worry bout impressing their loved ones n not their fellow homies.

i think it's funny that a lot of times when someone does some shit like jump someone or sidebust someone people say "that's not gangsta." that's like one of the most gangsta things you can do.

being a real gangbanger is about doing some ruthless, ridiculous shit so that you can get the upperhand on the enemy. it's not about being honorable, it's about being cold and smashing shit up.

gangbangers are scandalous. they steal shit, they do real dope like heroin and crystal and shit. it's not a virtuous activity or path in life.

knocking people out of wheelchairs and shit like that, i'm 100% serious is hella gangster. killing people that you don't know is gangsta imo. gangsta is not a good word/thing.

WHATS EVERYBODYS' OUTLOOK ON GANGBANGING AND HOW DO U THINK IT EFFECTS OUR MODERN DAY SITUATIONS AND LIVES(if it does)??
IMO, MOST PEOPLE JOIN GANGS EITHER OUT OF A SENSE OF NECESSITY OR A SENSE OF FAMILY. I WOULD IMAGINE MOST MEMBERS WERE PROBABLY BULLIED, PICKED ON, AND OTHERWISE OSTRACIZED; CAME FROM BROKEN HOMES AND FELT LIKE THEY WEREN'T LOVED, OR EVEN A PART OF SOMETHIN'; A LOT OF THEM USUALLY COME FROM POOR SOCIOECONOMIC BACKGROUNDS. THE GANG ESSENTIALLY BECOMES THEIR FAMILY.

MY THING WITH GANGS IS NOWADAYS THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ANY STRUCTURE...NOT SO MUCH ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE, BUT MORE ORDER. EVERYONE DOES WHAT HE WANTS & NO ONE SEEMS TO ANSWER TO ANYONE, NOT EVEN THEIR OGs, DOUBLE OGs.

IF YOU GOT FUNK WIT YO ENEMY, TAKE IT OUT ON THAT MAN. DON'T GO SHOOTIN' INTO A CROWD OF PEOPLE. DON'T SHOOT IN THE DIRECTION OF THE LIL GIRL JUMPIN' ROPE IN HER FRONT YARD. THE OLD LADY CARRYIN' HER GROCERIES IS NOT YO ENEMY. "CIVILIANS" OUGHTA BE OFF LIMITS UNLESS THEY DO SOMETHIN' TO YOU PERSONALLY.

GANGBANGIN' IS INEXPENSIVE POPULATION CONTROL ANYHOW. IT DON'T TAKE MUCH TO PULL A TRIGGA & END SOMEONE'S LIFE. IF YOU GANGBANG, ALL YOU DOIN' IS KEEPIN' "THE BOYS" AND THE MUTHAFUCKAZ WHO DRIVE THE MEAT WAGON BUSY. AND LET'S NOT FORGET THE FAMILIES WHO ARE LEFT TO GRIEVE THE LOSS OF A LOVED ONE TO GANG VIOLENCE. MOST OF VIOLENCE IS BLACK ON BLACK, BLACK ON BROWN, BROWN ON BROWN. YOU THINK WHITE FOLKS GIVE A FUCK THAT Y'ALL ARE KILLIN' EACH OTHER OFF? I DOUBT IT. IF ANYTHING, THEY SITTIN' BACK WIT A BIG ASS SMIRK ON THEIR FACE.

For some ppl they grew up in it..Misguided. For others it was something they felt they had to do in order to survive. For most it's just something to be a part of....No real meaning. Just banging something because they homeboy's do or because the rest of the niggas in that neighborhood do. Niggas is followers. Every body think this street shit is all fortune and fame and that's mainly what niggas glorify and put out there. That perception is so fucked up because really that's the least of what the streets is. Then, when niggas is face with real life situations that may bring life or death consequences it's awakening they aren't ready for. But, niggas who really do bang have a responsibilty to change that perception. Give gangs a more positive meaning. If you Crip then, show everybody the positive shit the crips are doing for the ppl. If you Blood then, do likewise. If you from the Bay and you banging this street shit which is really not much different then, tell me all the positive shit your street is doing for ppl. But, that's not happening...Niggas just want to tell us how big their guns are and how many bullets they hold and how many niggas they'll knock down. That's how I know they're fake because a real nigga will be a torn soul. Meaning he's still down to do it if he's HAS too and he won't think twice about it....But, he really DOESN'T want too! He really wants to move in positivity because he's seen the kind of negativity it can bring and the shits not pretty! It's really ugly out here!
Realist shit in this thread, straight up.

put it like this...i think all of us who grew up in that environment and make it to a certain age with our dignity intact, start to build friendships with people from places we never would have before...
real recognize real don't mean shit till a certain age really

i got a real cool network of people i call my friends that has nothing to do with rap music or where i'm from

there's certain things you learn in this life, that makes it real easy to have a cool conversation with someone you recognize as a kindred spirit

a kind of character is build that lets you move freely

the streets proove a lot of bitches, but makes the strongest men

and i'm not a gangster nor never have been..just a dude who grew up around the way, rapped, played ball and stayed cool...

no need for it any more, every black and latin gang that started to protect themself just turned around to hurt some other folks in they race in their larger community down the st. At least the white gangs morphed when whites position and such changed, but us especially blacks theres no need. I was askin a nigga from carson yesterday why they needed hoods in an affluent upper middle class black hood, he said to protect themselves from the other races (Samoan bloods, southsiders, etc. in carson) i said then why yall fighting and killin other blacks in watts, SC, compton, etc.? he just looked at me silent.
Reminds me of some of the people I grew up around. There weren't really that many gangs in the area I lived in, the only known gangs that existed were Norteno/Sureno gangs. The Surenos for the most part weren't even "real" sureno's from SoCal they were pretty much pisas/border bros who'd joined up and starting "banging" Sur together because they got tired of being picked on/punked/bullied by the Nortenos. If you look at that, that's pretty much what it sounds like the guy was talking about when he says they are protecting themselves from the other gangs. From what I understand the original Blood gangs were created to rival the Crips because of guys like Tookie and Monster Cody terrorizing people from outside their neighborhood.

In answer to the question / discussion, I see it starting to seriously die down in not only rap music, but in general. It's no longer as popular as it once was. Nobody cares about the next gang bangers "street cred." etc.

If people can't hold a conversation without trying to intimidate, bring up street credibility etc. That person is often ignored and disregarded as an idiot (from the things I've overheard from people in general.) In the end, people have beliefs and everyone can be respected. Just as long as it's understood that there are times you don't need to bring that up, or have any reason to always want to prove it to the world.

The next generation are turning to punk rock / metal music (no, not like the 80's. A lot of today's garage bands is a bunch of clanking noise & muffled screams.) and being more rockers than anything. Which also has it's flaws due to the fact that some of these kids cut themselves and become suicidal to fit in. Embracing what came from Nazi skinheads and mosh pits.

Some may argue that Hip Hop make people want to be black, but truth of the matter is, Hip Hop was based on Peace, Unity, Love & Having Fun. It wasn't built from hate nor suppressing any race...

and that is the difference!

In retrospect, I can appreciate good music of all genres, but again, it has to be good music.

yeah, that's definitely not true bruh

most those early non crip gangs just threw the blood on it overtime as as a sign of solidarity. lot of them were big before cripping was even around. same with some of the early crip sets. none of this shit has meaning. but it's one of the most significant aspects of our countrys history.

there's no glory to it, but it's as real as they come...
ain't that some shit

the question is...HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT ANYONE WHO'S 25+ that's still gang banging?

I'm not saying for someone that joined a gang after turning 25+...

To me it's like this, you either grow up or stay a fuck up.....

funny thing is, if you choose a different path...those so called friends look at you different ....
When I was young and you came across a fool, it was always going to be something. If there wasn't something, word would get around and you would at minimum get checked. The same people years later have matured. It's not a check but more realistic responses like "homie, if I started funk with every fool I see I would be constantly at war".

Basically, if you ain't getting hit up or mean mugged, what's the point of starting shit? Most of the time these fools is new and from some little new hood I ain't even heard of. There was a point I knew who every one and every thing is. Now I don't know what half the shit I see tagged up is.
