VERY TRUE...I AM GLAD I GOT 2 EXPERIENCE THE THINGS I DID BEFORE I STARTED A RAP CAREER. IT MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE KNOWLEDGE WISE...I NEVER INTENDED 2 BANG ON WAX AS A YOUNGSTA BUT UNFORTUNATELY CERTAIN ENVIRONMENTS ALWAYS BRING IT OUT OF ME...HIP HOP AND GANG LIFE ARE 2 TOTALLY DIFFERENT SPECTRUMS...WHEN U MIX THE 2,THERE'S USUALLY DRAMA.

^^^^^^ Agreed. Rap is making it to trendy to BANG. Funny to see young cats who don't even belong to a set claim a set. Wear certain color clothes, flags even take slang from other areas and use when you know your city don't speak like that. Even funnier to see old cats get in the game late. One cat I work with is hilarious. First he was from The Town the he went to calling everyone Rouge and talking EPA this and EPA that. Then it was Cutty Cutty Cutty. Then he started wearing these blue timbs all the time and a blue durag telling people he was a crip and he grew up in pasadena. Funniest shit was when this female he was trying to holla at up at the job was like really you grew up in fremont and went to american high with me. Fucking hilarious but yeah dude is in his thirtys never banged a day in his life and is on some straight GANGSTA shit though.

For some ppl they grew up in it..Misguided. For others it was something they felt they had to do in order to survive. For most it's just something to be a part of....No real meaning. Just banging something because they homeboy's do or because the rest of the niggas in that neighborhood do. Niggas is followers. Every body think this street shit is all fortune and fame and that's mainly what niggas glorify and put out there. That perception is so fucked up because really that's the least of what the streets is. Then, when niggas is face with real life situations that may bring life or death consequences it's awakening they aren't ready for. But, niggas who really do bang have a responsibilty to change that perception. Give gangs a more positive meaning. If you Crip then, show everybody the positive shit the crips are doing for the ppl. If you Blood then, do likewise. If you from the Bay and you banging this street shit which is really not much different then, tell me all the positive shit your street is doing for ppl. But, that's not happening...Niggas just want to tell us how big their guns are and how many bullets they hold and how many niggas they'll knock down. That's how I know they're fake because a real nigga will be a torn soul. Meaning he's still down to do it if he's HAS too and he won't think twice about it....But, he really DOESN'T want too! He really wants to move in positivity because he's seen the kind of negativity it can bring and the shits not pretty! It's really ugly out here!

the question is...HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT ANYONE WHO'S 25+ that's still gang banging?

I'm not saying for someone that joined a gang after turning 25+...

To me it's like this, you either grow up or stay a fuck up.....

funny thing is, if you choose a different path...those so called friends look at you different ....

I'm a man, a father and I sure as hell gave up on a lifestyle in order to take care of my kid, but some fools never see it that way...

I thank god and my real friends that supported my decision to this day....

i will say growing up in fremont, Irvington District to be exact. I grew up with just as many killers and dealers as the next in my time. My city got OG's for days from North and South SIde, as well as Niles and other hoods too. Being from fremont, dont make anyone less hard than the next

I THINK WE ALL FOCUS ON POSITIVITY AS MEN...I ALSO THINK WE WILL ALL HAVE DIFFERENT VIEWS.ITS INTERESTING INFORMATION.I ONLY KNOW A FEW RAPPERS WHO BANG ACTIVELY.MOST JUST REP 4 THEIR HOODS OR CLICC.IF U WANT 2 BE TECHNICAL.AND THERE ARE "ALOT" MORE GANGS THAN BLOODS AND CRIPS...AND ISSUES ON EVERY LEVEL.

i feel like gang bangin has went mainstreme now that you got people like lil wayne and snoop dogg living the life without really worrying about rivals and shit like that. Not saying they dont have enemies but bloods doing shows in crip cities wouldnt have went over to well in the 90's. I even see a gang of lil latinos out there dressin all hyphy aying they bang but i cant tell who bangs and who dont nowadays. i know the cops had a big roll in why the dress code changed but it sems like anyone will sy they gangbang now to try to sell a record or get known and then when i meet people from their hoods who are credible, they say shit like " i dont know them foos" or " i never seend them around here before". I will say that from my own experience, rap has definitely changed the streets and the way banging has evolved.

Gangbanging in general is pretty much a joke.....I see why it was a necessity during 50's 60's and 70's for safety and preservation, but now it's messy and unorganized....It just seems pathetic and harmful to communities and innocent people over petty beefs and personal gain......

no need for it any more, every black and latin gang that started to protect themself just turned around to hurt some other folks in they race in their larger community down the st. At least the white gangs morphed when whites position and such changed, but us especially blacks theres no need. I was askin a nigga from carson yesterday why they needed hoods in an affluent upper middle class black hood, he said to protect themselves from the other races (Samoan bloods, southsiders, etc. in carson) i said then why yall fighting and killin other blacks in watts, SC, compton, etc.? he just looked at me silent.

starts at home

i'm not saying this is 100% the case but it's pretty close

you either grew up in a gang house
or you had no house to call home and the homies were your family
either way your home life should of dictated which path you chose whether it be finding love elsewhere or your parents providing it at home

music is all corporate business now and it seems indy is the way the non pop rappers operate

gangbangin accomplished exactly what it was meant to, black people killing and hating each other for no reason, and its ridiculous that its being promoted as a mainstream "trend"

I grew up around it for the most part but never was interested in joining the gang, I had a time where I thought about it, but it wasnt worth it to me, its funny as shit to me these rappers suddenly turned gangbangers rapping about the shit but never lived it. and honestly its not like it used to be, the dudes that were banging early in the 90's or 80's arent even really settrippin anymore its more about money, but the youngsters are the ones out here acting a fool because they feel like they have something to prove. I grew up with the drug addict parents and all that shit around me and im not trying to fuck up somebody elses family the way mine was, so I went a different route with my life, but if you are banging thats you, but be prepared for what comes with that lifestyle.

There is just about no place for it in today's society. It's an excuse for people to fill a need or void by being "included" IMO. It's almost like a pyramid scheme on a few levels too. People that have lived that life need to make sure their children have an opportunity to get educated and live a productive lifestyle as well as to avoid the obstacles that they faced when they chose to bang.
