I was looking at soundscans today and mack 10 just terrible to be on a major and have a machine behind him. 3,900 copies wtf... I know it's been a minute since mack came out but 3,900. From radio play,106 and park, full page ads in magazines and some. Maybe it is best to be independent in these days. Why as an artist have a label dump all that money into your project to owe. Doesn't make sense. Stay independent

As far as I can tell the album is on Hoo-Bangin' with distribution through Fontana.

Fontana is linked with Universal, but that doesn't really mean Universal is dropping big bread to promote everything Fontana has its hand in.
I could of been wrong I thought dude came out on cash money/universal.... My bad

mixtapes is the way to go if you're independent. month after month of remix of songs and original songs, get a buzz going. then drop the album

Right on.

Either way, you're probably right about going the independent route. I'm sure someone besides Mack put up the money for promo, pressing, etc... and that needs to be recouped. A couple thousand copies ain't gonna cut it if Mack wants to see any money.

Rather break even on my own than never even see any money after the recoup.

Long as you have some kind of fanbase or supporters(that actual buys your music) then its good to go independent and put shit out yourself you dont even need a barcode theses days you can put your shit digital on the net. If not then you fucked and may wanna go get a major deal or just stick to a regular job bc you wont get paid no matter how good you are if no one supports or cop your shit

I think its because his fan base(people who copped in the 90's) is probably in its 30's now and don't really wanna hear his shit anymore. I dig mack 10. but I honestly didn't even know he had an album coming out. pretty much fell of my radar.

daaaamn, that is not good at all.hopefully his sales start picking up like the black eye peas albums be doin.
The black eyes peas shit be at a hundred thousand in sales then start picking up.... 4,000 and a pick up maybe, maybe not. End of 2010 it will probably have pushed 30,000.. Im sure his single so sharp has did pretty nice with the ringtone and digital downloads.
