Two things you should think of is a high-end graphics card/ and a good processor. Also make sure to have a real good system of cool down. If not you will catch your shit on fire like my friends little bro.

That doesnt happen that often.

Make sure your graphics card is for gaming. The highest end of cards are actually made for graphic programs like CGi and editing and are NOT god for gaming, so make sure you check on that.

And yes, a fast processor is a good direction, preferebly with Dual Core technology. Also, LOTS of RAM. If you dont have at least a GB in there these days, your system will seem draggy.

mane get a nice fast processor. like a quad core or a 64 bit processor. also look at maxin out your internal memory. that will help with games a ton. high speed memory is pretty cheap now a days. also get a good size hard drive like a 300 gig or maybe 2 120s if your not doing shit with music or movies and all that jazz. get a good video card too. the new radeons are badass and the new nvidias are pretty beastly as well. get a nice big widescreen lcd with dvi to get the maximum resolution and graphics from your games too.

get a dual core 2 chip, 2 gigs of ram, 160+ gigs of hard drive, and a good graphics card and you are set for a couple of months until crysis comes out then you are going to have to upgrade again. and thats why pc gaming sucks.

I built my computer for about 1300 maybe more since I have added stuff recently. But make sure to get a good heatsink and fan for the cpu. I have a thermaltake big typhoon and it keeps my shit real cool and I am overclocking. You should get at least 2x1gb of ram and I hear that AMD is better for gaming but I don't game so im not sure. I also have an asus motherboard and I like it. One recommendation though do not buy a refurbished motherboard it wont come with anything I thought it would save some money but you need to have all the drivers it comes with and the plat to cover the back of the motherboard. You might be able to keep it under 1,000 without a monitor but it might run a little more. Also try tigerdirect.com they have good prices too.

any advice im gonna be playing alot of games on it and trying to stay under a g.im thinking about buying one from www.pcclub.com
Get a Dell or Dell refurb if you are not very technical. They are cheaper than what you could build because they get their parts so much cheaper. You will also have a warranty. If you want to build one yourself I can put together a list of parts and where to get them.

Catching on fire doesn't, but overheating causing artifacts and lower performance does happen quite often if you game for a couple hours on stock cooling.

Don't just throw out false information because they are the newest and highest numbers. Less than 10% of games utilize both Dual Core and 64-bit technologies. You would also need Vista 64-bit edition to enable the 64-bit extension, I don't recommend WinXPx64 because lack of driver support. The Intel Core 2 Duo chips are the best for gaming right, they took AMD's crown. THey are not the best because of dual core, but because of the great technology, games will most likely not even use both cores.

LCD's highest resolution is nowhere near CRT's highest resolution.

I bought 2 refurb'd mobo's from newegg, 1 was absolutely brand new (I think it was just open box), and 1 was just the bare mobo. Drivers are free and you don't need that plate.

That RAM shit is real true. I got a new Laptop with 1 gb RAM. So go ahead with that.

The cool down system helps though if you get a fast processor, and a good gaming graphics crad. Nvidia seems to be the way to go.

i got a nvidia pci-e 7800 gtx OC.. and i just stuck it into my old comp.. and if i play a game for like an hour with all the settings up.. my card will get up to 115 degrees and a warnin' will come on tellin' me my cooling system sucks... it's a dope card.. but graphic cards update so much .. it's ridiculous.. you think they'd just hold out droppin' a new one every month and just drop a super sick one every yr.. but nope.
