20K wow

I'd get a new computer -3000
Probably a project mix 1300
Pro Tools LE 250
Rosetta syncronizer 3000
16 track anaolg recording console probably one of those Onyx series, i heard good things 1300ish
One higher end single channel pre like a liquid channel 2500
a whatever 8 channel pre like a octo pre 800
spend a grip on plugins or sme kind of plugin chip to save host DSP like a uad 1 or focoscrite liquid mix and the waves bundles 1500 or so
Not sure about monitors but I'd probably go cheap on them since at least in my opinion when you figure out the characteristics of any particular speaker you can make it work to get a nice mix. I personally like most Tannoys that i've heard so 800-1000 there I'd look for something as flat as i can find with a clean xover some actives, I hate relying on a poweramp that mess up my sound like the one my friend had a problem with
I'd spend the rest of it on mics and room treatment cables etc

You can never have enough lol, i'd like to see Moes post on this

I focused so much on recording equipment that I'd also want
MPC 2500
Nord Lead 3 or a Virus
a high end turntable like a numark or a technics
a couple old vinyl collections
mo phat rack with all the emu chips in it
and just misc musical instruments so

I'd need like an extra 10 grand or cut back on my list in other areas haha. Seriously if I was to come in to a small fortune I'd probably spend half of it on this kind of thing

Anyone ever record on one of those Qsrs or the mackee counterpart? I know snoop has one of the mackee ones in his private studio, i dunno if his albums were recorded on that but his stuff sounds great, probably tracked and mixed on an SSL though like most big names.

I just want to have the biggest money sound for the lowest price possible and I want to be able to track more than vocals so thats how i made my choices. I'd want to put a good chunk into building my room up and a nice sized iso booth so I can track a drum session in there if i wanted to. So i can track bands or whatever I want even if I'd probably have to record every instrument with different takes. Ima need a pretty big garage haha

My friend has the original mackie db8...and you can find them pretty cheap...under $2000 Its got a grip of inputs..I beleive 56?..most are showing there age and need maintenance..but once you do you have a great board....fitted with appogee convertors, can control your software etc.....

Its funy cause i was gonna say If I had a $20,000 shopping spree at a music center...Id probably get the mackie dbx200...2 downfalls....the extra inputs and outputs are all upgrades, and them touch screens I would be concerned how to replace them down the road if they get scratched up.

You know your shit maynge... the UAD-1 is sooper clean, the Neve plug-ins are killin!.... but you can't just have 1.. some of the plug-ins use a gang of DSP... (1176, Fairchild, Pultec-Pro, Neves)... Also TC electronic power core iz hella dope... can fit up to 4 DSP cards, you can run the Sony Oxfords and various TC plugins... I've use all these in my mixez in both Sonar and Nuendo... I used the TDM versions of the Oxford and UA plugins in ProTools HD... but UA has dropped their TDM support so they won't be compatble with any ProTools once it moves beyond 7.9... Also got to use the SSL plugins on the TDM system and they wuz coo.. What I don't like about the TDM system is that you can only have one plugin open at a time and they also took longer to load up...

I'd also wanna get that 2-LA2A that's gonna be commin' out soon.. It can do stereo compression and also has a knob for fast and normal attack settings...

i've got the UAD-1
it's useful for certain things
the most valuable plugs on it are the Preflex, Precision Limiter, and Neve1073
the pultec is hit or miss...the la2a is damn near useless as is the 1176se
i'm not the biggest fan of these so called "warm" plugins
give me a simple baxandell EQ and i'll do some damage with it

Sup Heresy...it's THA RIPPA. You'd surely find SOMETHING to do in this studio.

Fender Mustang Bass - $600
Fender 800 Pro Bass Head - $1000
Ampeg SVT410 Cab- $700
Pearl 5 Piece Drum set - $750
Zildijan Cymbal (hi hats, crash, ride) set - $250
Gibson ES-335- $1900
Fender 65 Twin Reverb Amp - $1150
Big Muff Pi Fuzz box- $70
Cry Baby Wah- $70
Line 6 Delay Modeler- $250
Boss TU-2 Tuner- $100
Hammond XK-1 Organ- $1500
Korg MicroKORG Synth/Vocoder-$400
Korg KARMA- $1500
Roland SP404 Sampler- $400
Sitar- $500
Tampura-$500
Bongos, Congas, Dijembe, Didjeridu- $750 - these dont need to be "expert" models, as they will only be played when I'm on acid.
Hohner Blues Harp- $25
Tamborine-$25
2 Sets of Shakers- $50

RECORDING GEAR:
Neumann TLM103-$1250
Avalon 737- $2250
(3) ShureSM57's - $300
AKG d112 kick drum mic- $225
g4 iMac-$2000
Event 6 Monitors- $400
(3) Sony MDR7506 Headphones- $300

and then the other $400 can go to cables and weed. Then all I'd really need would be something to record onto. But with THAT gear, shiiiiit...I could probably find someone to sponsor me!

Holla :H:

P.S. Do you know where/how Walt is?

Update: I decided I could split that $400, $200 towards an Autoharp, and $80 for a tremolo pedal. That would still leave me with some smoke, too.
