(6/19/02, 6 p.m. ET) -- Queens-based rapper 50 Cent, who was previously signed to the Trackmasters' Columbia Records-distributed imprint, has inked a new deal with Eminem and Dr. Dre. 50 Cent's official sophomore album will be released on Shady Records/Aftermath Entertainment and distributed through Interscope Records. Earlier this year, a collection of the rapper's freestyles and some newly recorded material were packaged together and released as Guess Who's Back?

50 Cent's debut, Power Of The Dollar, came out in 1999 but suffered due to bootlegging and poor promotions. The rapper's new set, which is scheduled for a fourth-quarter 2002 release, will feature the production of Dr. Dre, Eminem, and Sha Money XL.

Damn this thread is old...I have always liked alot of East Coast music but at that time I must have not been feeling alot of it. I don't know about ya'll but I go through phases LMFAO. Sometimes I like mostly bay, than NYC, than some down south shit. But damn that was like over 2 years ago LOL. I don't even remember typing that. I don't know why the fuck I said those were the only ones I was feeling from the East because that was a lie LOL. But I would say my taste in hip hop/rap is much more diverese these days.

Honestly, I think my taste for rap music is getting narrower and narrower. I hate almost everything I hear. The topics in rap music in general have regressed. It is mind-boggling to me how people can even consider 50 cent as a real artist.

I have only liked underground rap, never anything mainstream. I can’t stand money, bitches and other insignificant played out topics.

Maybe I have purposely isolated myself from hearing new artists, but that’s only because of my vast disappointment of the rap industry and its inability to create truly artistic, meaningful music, besides of course a few exceptions.

^^^HATERs!!!!!

haha, just fuckin with you, well said though sixx, feel the same way...once you listen to artists like immortal technique, sage francis and even cats like the grouch, etc. who actually have some sort of meaning in their music and lyrics that actually mean something,it hard to listen to more mainstream aritsts cause its just sounds so corny and frivolous...and once you get into that underground state of mind its hard to want to accept anything else

but like anything,i will go through phases where i will listen to my share of stupid shit just for the hell of it,i am speaking more along the lines of bay shit and things like that. i never go as far as to listen to most of the mainstream shit that has been out there in the last couple years...cause the mainstream music that is out there today is the main reason i am the way i am.everytime i hear cats talk about an album (i.e. eminem, camron, anybody in g-unit,etc) i always think something has changed, but it never does, its always the same bullshit, and i always end up dissapointed

didnt mean to turn this into a underground vs. mainstream thread but 2-0-sixx got me going

Not to get 2 off topic but what do you know about Sage Francis ie wheres he from? How old is he? When's he gonna drop another album? I swooped "Personal Journals" awhile ago and its by far one of the better CD's Ive ever listened to but I cant find anything else by him anywhere. I read a few months ago on some hiphop site that he had some sort of throat disease or sum shit don't know if theres any truth to that but thats about the only info Ive found on him. That and a pic of him. Any info on him would be much appreciated.

he is from providence,rhode island

he is in his late 30's

he is dropping a new album on febuary 8th called "a healthy distrust" (it leaked about 2 months ago)
but so far all he has released off the album is a political track called "slow down gandhi" which is sick

other than those to albums he has released many albums of unreleased tracks, freestyles and live material called the " sick of..." series

sick of waging war
sick of waiting tables
still sick...urine troubles
sickly business

those arent in order of release, they are dope, even though they are just random songs and verses there is a lot of good material

here is the link to his epitath page (which is new album is being released under) which lets you listen to slow down gandhi

more than likely you are going to have to get them online, hard to find in stores

here is where i got most of mine from, has tracklists and you can listen to some tracks if you want

http://www.undergroundhiphop.com/store/searchresults.asp?searchby=Artist&keywords=sage+francis

damn, looking at that link reminded me off his other cd "hope" he did with joey beats, and they call themselves "non-prophets"...probably his best work, right up there with personal journals,so if you were feeling personal journals that album is right along those same lines, classic shit

^^^i was curious what you would think of that track, was going to ask if you listened to it,due to its more political nature,i figured you would have an opinion on it...glad you were feeling it...im not going to say he makes the best songs, but his lyrics are some of the best out there as far as his wordplay and shit like that and he touches on very real subjects

get your hands on his album "personal journals"..sick album

1)Sage francis has got the best lyrics i have ever personally heard...he cannot be touched on the MIC.

2)The normal nonprophets/sage site has been down for a minute now, but the message board is still operational at http://www.inhalerproductions.com/forum/index.php

3)The Hope CD is fresh as fuck. Sage has a song titled Mainstream where the hook goes something along the lines of "I wasn't down with the mainstream, since shall I say fifteen" I don't know but the rest of yall, but that holds absolutely true for my personal opinions.

4) If you have ever heard the Big L/Jay Z freestyle where Big L absolutely makes jigga look foolish, sage had some pretty funny things to say about that shit as well.
