Do you think it's a wrap? They're talking about the Cavaliers needing to give up something like J.J. Hickson and their first round pick to acquire him. Stacking talent on top of talent doesn't always pay off, as oddly as that sounds, because there is the matter of chemistry; but it's hard to imagine the Cavs would not be ridiculously good with the addition of Amare Stoudemire.

They're also talking about getting Antawn Jamison. This of course would be in lieu of the Stoudemire deal.

The trade dealine is less than a week away (2/19). What else is going on out there that is worth noting?

Discuss.

Maybe it's about time for something crazy to happen. The last few years there's always the craziness around the deadline and nothing actually pops off.

Hickson is a good prospect and the Cavs have been showcasing him the entire year so maybe this deal for Amare actually happens. Neither Amare or Jamison helps their D at all though, but they're already a solid defensive so ...

that's why the Cavs beat the Lakers twice this season, huh?
kobe has been battling injuries all season, and come around playoff time artest will pay off. things are much different in a 7 game series than 1 single regular season game. nothing against the cavs props to them they beat us twice and convincingly at that. not worried one bit though cavs went into last years playoffs with the best record but still have no ring to show for it. Come around playoff time experieced vets like fisher, kobe, odom, artest and phil jackson will make sure the lakers get another ring.

come playoff time you may be right... at the same time you may be wrong

but right now the Cavs have a better record right now, and they beat the Lakers twice this season... so right now Cavs >>> Lakers

I'm not sure how you can say otherwise

no doubt those are the 2 best teams in the league... but the Cavs are better

yea youre right i can be right or i can be way off, either way like i said iam honestly not worried. thats why i state Lakers>Cavs, not saying we are going to sweep the cavs if they make the finals but i dont think anyone can see the lakeshow in a 7 game series. one thing that does worry me just a little bit is the fact that if we do go against the cavs they will have home court advantage and that helped us out big time against the magic last year.

its too bad we'll never get to see phil jackson coach a team that isnt stocked with the best player in the league. oh wait, we did and he was a failure.

Chicago Bulls Winning Percent w/ Michael Jordan
7 season - 6 titles - .759 winning percentage

Chicago Bulls Winning Percent w/o Michael Jordan
2 seasons - 0 titles - .550 winning percentage

LA Lakers Winning Percent w/ Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal
5 seasons - 3 titles - .694 winning percentage

LA Lakers Winning Percent w/ Kobe Bryant but without Shaq
4 seasons - 1 title - .498 winning percentage

all of jacksons rings except for one had shaq or jordan, and the one he won without them he had to have jerry west give him pau gasol for kwame brown. without that bullshit trade the lakers dont win shit last year and arent contending this year.

maybe the suns will give up stoudemire for zydrunas ilgauskas.

The Lakers are gonna need to get past Denver before we talk about Cavs-Lakers...yeh they won last year but only because of dumb last minute mistakes by Denver

This is very misleading.

There have been 5 full seasons without Shaq. The first season without Shaq, Phil Jackson was not the coach and it happened to be their only season with a losing record (he came back the next year and they made the playoffs). However if you're counting the seasons without Shaq but with Phil Jackson, the statistics would read as follows:

LA Lakers Winning Percent w/ Kobe Bryant but without Shaq
4 seasons - 1 title - .637 winning percentage

As far as them not being able to win without Gasol.. this doesn't really mean anything. Similarly you could say the Celtics wouldn't have won if they didn't trade for Garnett; the Miami Heat if they didn't get Shaq, etc. All you're really doing is removing a major peice of the team and saying "oh you can't win shit now", but that is very well the case for every team in history who has ever won a title.

One more thing. Concerning Jackson's stint with the Bulls when they didn't have Jordan; did they ever use the money which was alloted to him (Jordan) to sign anyone of value to replace him at that or any other position? Hmmm.

lets get real, jackson would never coach a team not loaded with stars. if he does, you get the post shaq pre gasol lakers. WORTHLESS PIECES OF SHIT.

the point of the gasol trade is, ANY OTHER TEAM WOULD HAVE TO GIVE UP VALUE TO GET A PLAYER OF HIS CALIBER. if LA had to give up what gasol was REALLY worth they would have never won shit. if you dont see that youre just a dumb mother fucker.

getting gasol for brown is like trading rasheed wallace for lebron, lets get real.
