Most rap artist arn't even fanz. i spotted that shit a long azz time ago. They just like 2 rap or use it az a hustle.

That is so true. I was talking to this local guy that is a producer, and all he knew was Jay-Z, The Game, G-Unit etc... I asked him if he was into J Dilla's production and he didnt even know who he was. Im thinking how are you gonna be a producer and not even know who one of the all time greats was? Thats like an up and coming boxer not knowing Ali or George Foreman. This is one of the biggest things wrong with the rap game right now IMO...

It's cuz the mainstream industry only rely on, the mainstream!!!

...or what's good on TV & other media outlets...

Not who puttin it down on the underground, so that's why independent artists can only stick & work together cuz that's the independent game right there......

I only buy good albums that im feeling bc there is more then a million rappers in the world today just bc a cat got a sequencer program or recording software and lil microphone dosent mean they a rap artist , it takes more then being able to rap sentences you gotta have some originality, & leadership and a business mind first. who gives a shit if you got bars and punchlines for dayz you feel me? Its just like if a nigga got a pair of Wahl clippers that dont make that muthafucka no offical barber, nigga gonna need the certifications and the building space to go in business. and these days alot of rappers only got raps and are missing everything elses. rather its underground or mainstream you gotta have a business blueprint or plan first Instead of just rapping.

I think the rap game is just in need of a change of scenery, the whole thug/hustla/pimp thing is even getting old for the mainstream audience, thats why you don't see these cats moving big units unlike a few years ago, where rap artists like 50 Cent were moving numbers like The Pussycat Dolls are doing now.

This is why I was hoping that artists could be successful like Lupe Fiasco, and Nas and Little Brother, who are making thought provoking music without sacrificing the actual music, ie Immortal Technique, sure he's a great lyricyst but I can't sit through anything that doesn't catch my ear from a music standpoint first. And most of his stuff doesn't have any melodic value IMO. Its just boring. Thats just me though.

Reminds me of the Lupe hook on I Gotcha
