would it be hip hop? or would it just be a rapper singing neo-soul? should it get play on a hip hop radio show? should it be in the rap section or the R&B section at the store?

imo it would still be hiphop...i wouldnt see any problem with playing it on a hiphop radio show....isn't rap and r&b already in the same section in record stores?...it is where i live at least...neo-soul has hiphop elements so there isnt anything wrong with mixing it in with hiphop

there is - it is wack and one of the main reasons most albums suck is that they have too many neo-soul and R&B influenced tracks

R&B. If Willie Nelson makes a rock record, its a rock record even though thats not what hes primarily known for. When Jimi Hendrix played blues, it was blues, not acid rock.

I dont know if a soul record by a rapper necesarily SHOULD be played on a rap station, but it probably would be because his primary audience (rap fans) would be interested, pls most rap stations play r&b anyway.

i say it dependson all how the beats are done if it's clearly got an r & b vibe n all but jus say 50 Cent did a gangsta rap album lyrically and put it together on sum neo soul style shit ya know... like i know this cat who sings ganksta ass shit but he does it on sum raggaeton typoe shit it's ill and reminds me of spice one's old rasta shit but he's puerto rican and he has raggaeton beats and that sean paul ass voice so it'd be raggaeton... but anyways it all depends but if like aregular rapper did a neo soul album jus 2 be safe i'd put it with his other albums in the rap section it'll sell better that way.
