mac dre would've been just as popular in the bay....you could see the attention he was getting right before he died....but I think all that would've happened was he'd get a guest spot on 40's album, had an album out on his own, and be working on another one....and there would be just as many rappers out....its ignorant as fuck to say "he would've bitch slapped so & so for doing this and whats his name wouldn't even be out"
the only major difference would be that Thizz Ent would have better material coming out because more people would want to fuck with Dre

That, or he might have invented some other new "movement," since he liked to invent funny new personas on his CD covers. It seemed like Dreezy didn't stand still w/ any one style at a time. Just when you thought you had him figured out, he'd do something that you didn't expect.
He MIGHT have blown up nationally, but I don't know...right before MD died, there was an interview XPLOSIVE magazine did w/ him. In the interview, he said that he had received many offers from majors, but he also said (in so many words) that you have to be careful about signing w/ them, because you may have to sacrifice too much in the way of freedom. Obviously, we'll never know if MD would have jumped at the chance to sign w/ a major or not, but my guess is that he probably would have had to have done the same thing 40 did (i.e., commercialize and "dumb-down" his sound) in order to "blow up." Whether Dregan would have been willing to do that, we can't know...
