This is just the way the culture is. If you have seen other videos on the internet it should be no surprise to you that when someone robs they get to get beat by the owners usually with bricks and such and it gets pretty brutal. Compared to that, it seems like they mostly scared the kid more than hurt him. It's all culture though, if that were to happen here yea hell would break loose, nobody touches my kid but me. But in China its probably one of those things where the adults would say "yea, I remember when I tried stealing for the first time when I was a kid, same shit happened to me." Its all relative
