There was an outstanding article in Sports Illustrated about 2 years ago investigating the fact that fewer and fewer black Americans are playing baseball. Anybody see it?

Obviously black people can do and play whatever the hell they want to play, but it is also sad b/c black people have proven that when they set their mind to a sport they can do damn well and revolutionize that sport forever. What would the NBA or NFL be w/out black people? Nothing close to what it is today. Some of baseball's greatest heroes are black, imagine baseball w/out Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Satchel Paige, Barry Bonds, Ken Griffey Jr. the list goes on and on. So I guess I see nothing wrong or right about it (if black people aren't playing the game anymore b/c simply they don't like it, if they want to but there's systematic things preventing them then that sucks), more just sad.

The magic question is why??????

looking back,i wish i would have stuck with baseball...i think i could have at least gotten a full-ride somewhere. but i guess i lost interest because i couldnt play the position i wanted (shortstop) because im left handed. outfield and firstbase sucks.

i think blacks dont play baseball because there arent that many baseball field in the black communities: but every hood has a basketball court and every hood has streets (touch football). its hard as hell covincing 10 of your friends to come out to play baseball. with basketball all you need is a ball. if you friends dont wanna go you can hit the park and practice your jumper. for football, all you need is three people: a qb and two cats can go head to head.

Go ahead and generalize, speak on the behalf of all african americans regarding their general disposition regarding baseball. You seem like a good deligate to represent every african american.
