Man I might be crazy but I think my XBox might be gettin the GOW curse. Well first off I got my XBox in about August/September. I read a couple parts of the manual when I first got it, but I didn't read word for word or page for page, just bits and pieces. Well to get to the point, for about a month I didn't know you were suppose to turn the system off with the controller. I was just turnin it on and off usin the power button on the system, until finally I saw one of my homies do it on the controller. I knew from the gate that I probably fucked up my 360 somehow doin it from the power button on the system for a straight month. Ever since I can remember though my system would either get the occasional error with the 3 flashin lights, they were on both lit on the right side and the bottom one on the left. My system was sitting vertical at that time too. Anyhow and the other thing it would occasionally do is when I turned it on sometimes nothing would show up on the screen, I could hear the system and it was goin, but nothing would be on the screen just darkness. It still does both of these things from time to time, and it has started doing it less ever since I started shutting it down with the controller. But to get to the part about the GOW thang. I was playin a non-ranked player versus match and all of a sudden it said peoples connection around me was messed up so I could wait for it to clear up or quit, then I just got put out the match and it said I lost connection, but I was still online. Then there was this loud ass I can't describe the sound, it just sounded like the system was about to explode and its definately no bueno. Damn this shit was long, anyway I hope its covered under the new 1-year warranty. Does anyone know if you need the receipt for that? I'm pretty sure I left it in the original box, I hope, haha.

Myth, doesn't matter how you turn the system off.

Your power cord going into the console was/is most likely loose, as that is the ONLY time I have ever gotten 3 red lights, or any red lights at all for that matter. No screen would most likely mean your av cables are loose also. I would check that out before sending your shit away for 2-3 weeks.
And Once again, there is no GOW curse, it's a load of bullshit, that just happens to be what you are playing when the system breaks down, it is not the game's fault. If Viva Pinata was the game in there, you'd probably say there was a curse with that.

If your friend is bitching about turning off the power through the system instead of the controller, he doesn't know shit about his system. It turns the system off the exact same way whether you shut it down from the controller, or by hitting the button on the console, it makes no difference. If you really want to be safe, go to the dashboard before turning off the 360, but even that doesn't really do shit.
