Why is it that alotta people, well alotta mainstream type of people always feel ignorant & biased about rap as well as other music thats not mainstream as far as reaching into a general audience straight outta MTV, BET, & whateverthefuck! And I the big picture that I dont really understand the most is that if an artist or group is not heard on the radio, does not have a video which is playin on MTV or BET & is not promoting their next joint on Direct Effect, or performing on Rap City or 106 & Park, or isnt even a known Hollywood celebrity/actor, and if the mainstream music fans has never head of this artist or group just cuz their just pure underground, no matter if theyre very talented & they been dropping nothin but pure heat & even are pioneers of the rap game who have been around for generations long before most mainstream rappers, they just blatantly reject their music by thinking that they SUCK!!! Now this I just dont understand??
Just because theyre underground & making good music independently, doesnt always mean that they SUCK!!!
So this clearly suggests, most of these kids here dont really have an original taste in music!

Anyone here on this board had an issue about this before out in the open cuz I had, so many times! Im more than happy to discuss about this......

Go ahead & post your stories guys!

i had this one guy say that 50 cent was the best rapper alive and tech n9ne would be the best but tech shows too much emotion when he raps and its hard to understand and feel what hes saying. Oh, and fat joe is the best lyricist in the game.

I knew this kid at work a few years back that only listened to what they play on the radio and on TV. He wouldn't even think about listening to anything that is not on the radio or TV. One day I asked him why and his reply was "that if they aren't being played on the radio or TV than they obviously have no talent or they would be on the radio and TV."

I just laughed at him and walked away...

i think it's cause they're so in tune to the mainstream that they're somewhat afraid to hear different types of rap, so when they hear underground they're like wtf?. underground songs are usually less radio-friendly so they'rnt used to it. they want stuff that they have famous producers along with mainstream msgs. they just have yet to blow..

if it were a matter of talent, 50 cent would be underground and x raided would be runnin rap, but it has nothing to do with talent, making vidz costs some cash, distribution, i mean, the right distribution is needed, and having those videos play costs money, so if the guy doesnt have alot of cash to bigin with, or a mainstreem artist backing him, he probably wont get too mainstreem

There is as much GARBAGE music coming from underground rap as there is coming from mainstream...I don't see why people have to CHOOSE ONE SIDE....I listen to whatever sounds good TO ME.

Real chop! I've got hella underground shit from the bay to NY to Texas, and it's all on point, but for real there are so many wack ass underground cats trying to get a bite that shouldn't be trying to chew on. Look at Mac Dre's labels from YBB to Romp to Thizz, they've signed dozens of artists but none have yet to impress me other than MD and a few solo cuts hear and there from others... but theres no consistancy. Look at Black Wallstreet... hella talent, but soooo many wack ass fools too... ok so the underground seen has talent and wastes... now peep game on the mainstreem.. is there really a difference?

Look at Jigga and the Roc.. how many platnum records have came from Hova's stablemaits? come on... G Unit too.. 50 got it going, Banks went plat, Buck coo, but Yayo? Spider Loc? Bang em Smurf? MOP? all wack in my opinion. The problem is that the rap game is just too oversaturated. There are too many people trying to rap who shouldnt.

Maybe if the mainstream artists who really shouldnt rap would just leave the mic alone, there might be enough mainstream beats for all underground artists to hop on and get some real radio play... but untill then quality rappers will always be surounded by trash, and you've just got to look for the diamonds in the rough...

right now i see about 1 to 10 ods for quality rappers to artists in the game.

but I think a lot of cats have said they don't care about the mainstream and like what they like. They listen to college radio and internet. But yeah a lot of people only know what they here on the mainstream radio. So it also makes it hard like in a club because people leave the dancefloor if they don't know a track.

I got mad and could go really agressive by people like that.. now I just stopped caring bunch of ignorance people..

But it also says alot about your personallity if you only listen to mainstream and think that "underground" is bad. Those people mostly have a closed mind and can't open it if they tried to. I listen to a lot of music before they hit the airwaves and I don't like it when they finally do because all the closed minded people can enjoy it then aswell.. mostely when this happens I drop the artist and stop listening to it because I can't enjoy it anymore...

Yeah, people are so brainwashed they actually think whats top ten on 106 and park is actually the top 10 best rap songs out in the world. And if you didn't make it you suck. Most people just aren't exposed to good music.
