I have a knowlege of 20 years of rap at the age of 17. From Planet Rock to EPMD to Pharcyde to DJ Screw to Children and the Corn and back. For about a year, nothing has inspired me. I searched. Me looking for refuge in "crunk" music, from the shit i was damn near raised on(Buck shit aka Crunk before it hit the radio IE:TWIII, Playa Fly, Original Three 6 Tapes) Looking for refuge in newer new york shit being raised on AZ, Nas and such. Even going to try to find refuge in G Funk shit such as Old dr.dre, DJ Quik and above the law.

For the last few weeks i been fuckin with alot of Jazz/Blues. Charles Mingus, Duke Ellington, Coltrane, Jimmy Ponder, Billy Cobham. Fuckin with soul. Sade, Sweetback, Isley Brothers, LTD.

Alot of funk. Johnny Guitar Watson, Bootsy Collins, Sly and the family stone just to name a few. My lord.

Now...Classic Rock. I never thought i would fuck with any rock what so ever. Chicago, Eric Clapton, Lynard Skynard, Zeplin, Queen, Crosby Skills n Nash, Doobie Brothers, Hendrix.

Even a little Harder shit like AFI, Distillers and others. Man...I aint no student of hip hop. I'm a studen of music.

I suggest you fuck with some of the shit i listen to. My lord. Today from 7pm to 4 AM. Learned 40 years of great music and it aint even enuff. I feel rejuvinated from what i needed to hear.

BX...there is so much more to music out there. I promise you. That is all

that's good man, itz good to expand your music collection...I CANNOT listen to rap all day I have to change it up, more so now, because I am getting older and life is really taking off for me, as far as my job and working with college students..There is music for all kinds of moods...

When I was younger I could listen to rap everyday all day, but not since I have been in college(just graduated)..I need music that will relax my mind(Jazz: John coltrane, kenny G, Miles Davis, etc)..but yeah I can go on forever...

It all depends on the mood i am in...I know I cant study or write a critical thinking essay listening to Lynch or BONE, etc.......

Good shit. I had that kind of "musical awakening" near the end of high school and i became obsessed with learning everything i could about almost every other single genre. Definitely depends on my mood on what i listen to, but im so well rounded these days that my friends ask what the fuck is wrong with me as i change the music from rap, to classic rock, to drum and bass, and back to rap.. lol
