Eminem will appear in court next month to defend himself against accusations of defamation from a man who claims to have been misrepresented in one of his songs.
Thirty two-year-old sanitation engineer DeAngelo Bailey claims that the song 'Brain Damage' from the 'Slim Shady LP' portrays him as a bully.
The lawsuit claims that Eminem was never subjected to "outrageous and grotesque physical abuse from his childhood friend, Bailey."
Though Eminem made a statement to the contrary in a 1999 interview with Rolling Stone magazine.
"Motherf**ker [Bailey] used to beat the s**t out of me," Eminem said. "Everything in that song is true. One day he came in the bathroom, I was pissing, and he beat the s**t out of me. pissed all over myself.
The lawsuit points the finger at what is referred to as "Eminem's desperate quest for money, fame and acceptance."
It reads: "This style of music is dominated by African-American artists and most of the songs are about the difficulties facing young people in ghettos where violence, broken families and financial hardship are prevalent."
"Eminem is a Caucasian male who faces criticism within the music industry that he has not suffered... and he therefore was a 'pretender.'"
Eminem will appear in Macomb County court in Michigan next month.
