I was told about this site and I check it out (www.hubblesite.org)....and it has some awesome pictures of the galaxies and stars, nubula's, all sorts of interesting stuff....thought I'd post it incase anyone else wanted to check it out...

also...what's this i've been hearing about our universe being 12.5 billion years old not 6? And now there's an estimated like 500 billion or million or some shit, planets that may support life like Earth....

Nah, not rocks...The telescope....They've got some tight pictures on there....at least, that's my opinion....

Stockton...my opinion is that everything is theory....you can always prove something if you're willing to believe it...or convince yourself it's right...humans are too dependant on classifications and groups and defining shit....not everything is in a specific order....just most shit...

I wouldn't have the real answer though. I just have ideas about the way things are anyway, I mean...there's no real way for me to personally KNOW that the universe is any age....except for how old i am, but that's all in context of my personal experiences anyway...

some things aren't worth arguing about...but learning is always a good thing.

damn right, and i'm right all the time...in my own right...that is...and that's right.

but who's to say something is, or is not true...we only "know" things based on how previous humans classify and organize things in this universe....who knows if they were EVER right...I don't. I try to maintain a healthy diet of skepticism...lol..

The age of the universe, according to our current theories, is about 12.5 billion years old (give or take a few billion - I think the consensus is that it's between 10 and 15 billion years old). As you said though, this figure is derived from our current theories which include measurements such as radioactive decay of elements and the age of certain star clusters so it's still just a ball-park estimation. Perhaps we'll devise a few new theories which will drop this back down to a few billion years or even elevate it upwards of 100 billion years - who knows? Cosmology is an inherently tricky science.

I said, in my opinion. Cause that's all it is, it's not a fact that things are theory...it's opinion....cause you dont' know if it's fact or not... :) cause everything is based on something else, and you can't really prove everything...i mean, people try, and they have numbers, and stats and shit...but that doesn't mean it's 100% truth....that just means that they are trying to CONVINCE you it is...

You can convince yourself of anything, that doesn't make it Truth.
