Dre did 4 on Jay's album...and they sound like vintage Dre production, I like all of them...especially the one he did with Ne-Yo.

And Lost One's is dope too...

The Dre produced songs on Jay-Z and Snoops album are in a playlist of their own on my iPod. They're that good. Totally restored my faith in Dre as a producer. The song 'Trouble' on Jay's album sounds a lot different than what you'd expect from Dre, but it's still clean as fuck.

That "Trouble" track is and isn't different from what you'd expect from Dre. The synth line (and the type of synth itself) is about the only thing in that track that I've never heard Dre use before. Listen to the piano chords on "Trouble" then go back to Obie Trice and "Shit Hits The Fan" and it's basically the same chord progression. It's only two chords but it's the same progression. Maybe in a different key though.

I like how I can't tell if the piano in "Lost Ones" is a sample or not. That's either a very clean sample or some good piano'ing by somebody.

30 Plus is hot. Sounds like some Philadelphia-Style Neo-Soul isht.

Minority Report beat was 'bleh' to me. 2 bar loop. The song itself is well constructed though.

    Ry

I disagree with everyone, I thought 2 of Dres beats were mediocre, and the other 2 were below average. I was expecting waaaaaay more from him. I personally dont see why people put him out there as one of the all time greats. I know his old stuff was really nice but like Janet said, what have you done for me lately???

I hear you Ry, and to be honest, these beats from Dre were not even my favorites of his, but they reminded me more of the style that he had when I first really started feeling his shit, as opposed to that digital sounding futuristic club banger sound that he's been experimenting with ie Game's ' I Can Take You Higher ' ...which was cool...but I like the more organic sounding Dre beats.

I agree with you 100%. You either make music yourself or really love music (or both). I like it when cats state their opinion, and then actually have something sensible to support that shit. With music it's difficult because people will say, "That's my opinion, deal with it", but you spit some musical analysis that makes some good sense.

It is and it isn't, but it's still nice.

And by 100% I agree that 'Minority Report' was just "bleh".

Haha...no, I liked the song actually, but I'm more of a fan of his Chronic 2001 sound, I understand that an artist has to evolve...maybe it was just me missing that classic orchestral Dre sound and being hard headed...lol...
