Howard Dean's passionate, rabble-rousing speech at last week's Iowa Caucus may have turned off political bedfellows, but Atlanta's Lil Jon and Memphis' Skinny Pimp saw Dean's multi-city shoutout as a remix opportunity.
Presidential hopeful Howard Dean has been the source of talk show jokes and political scrutiny ever since he unleashed a firey shoutout to thirteen US states followed by a a throaty howl at last week's Iowa caucus. Reminiscent of Hip-Hop's "call and response" style, rapper's Lil Jon and Memphis' Skinny Pimp have both sampled Dean's now infamous shoutout, adding some hip-hop flavor to the candidate's hoarse discourse.
Onlock Records/Grandstand Entertainment's Skinny Pimp, ably assisted by fellow rappers Tom Skeemask and Young Lo, have used the Dean sample in his song "City to City" The song calls out various cities in the U.S., much in the fashion of Dean's passionate delivery.
The king of the hoarse holla, Lil Jon, also produced his own version of Howard Dean hip-hop style, complete with signature ATL funk and flavor. The song, called "Howard Dean Throws It Up for America,," features Lil Jon with his signature YEAHHHHHHHHH followed by Dean's own Vermont-style howl.
Neither Lil Jon nor Skinny Pimp have officially announced their endorsement of Howard Dean, who is currently trailing war veteran John Kerry for the democratic presidential nomination.
