Go to sum open mics, even the acoustic ones usually let you flow and then just gradually build up a following. Give out cds to all your friends then go to the hot spots over in Portland and just give a lot out for free. Network with artists, do a few collab here and there and the contact will come to you sayin "You're those guys from Coos Bay". The harder you work the luckier you get.
