Ok, this is kind of hard to explain. I just bought a car, and it has these stripes...they're not painted, but they're kind of like a sticker..and they go around the car on the sides and the bumper...does anybody know a method of removing them without messing up the paintjob or scratching the car???

VERY SIMPLE dog...

It's vinyl pinstriping u got...I took em off my car too...I used to work at a sign shop and had to do it all the time...

It's best to use a REGULAR HAIR DRYER...NOT a heat gun because a heat gun can bubble yer paint...Go very slowly, heating with the hair dryer a couple inches ahead of where yer peeling and it should all come up pretty easlily...any left over adhesive, just use yer finger to ball it up...But with using the hair dryer, it SHOULD take all the adhesive up with the pinstripes.

Hope that helps!

3M also makes an adhesive remover that may work for removing the left-over adhesive after you remove the stripes. I've heard it's pretty effective.

Hmmm I've tried...and I kept the hair dryer on for a few minutes...and tried peeling it off but nothing happened. I doubt that the stripes are painted on because I can feel their texture...I'll try again and wait a while longer.
