I know that we often buy Cd's with 20-22 tracks on them and we as artist feel that being underground, we should put more and more tracks on a Cd.

Being realistic, we don't always like the whole Cd...

Comps, solo projects, mixtapes, group albums etc etc...

How many of you think 15-16 tracks is good for an album? (excluding intro, outro & skits).

or, is 20-22 tracks better for a whole album? (excluding big name features etc etc...).

Should we flood the gates? or should we leave em' wanting more?

And how do you feel about skits?

Good question man.! I'd say quality over quantity so I'd rather here a disk with 12 bangers that I can play every single song without skipping rather than a cd with 20 songs but you have to skip a bunch of them. It would be a good idea to go look at all the albums that have been considered classic and use those as a reference. I'd rather have less songs but good ones. You might have a classic album but have 2 songs that are wack that just might prevent that album from being considered a classic just based off of the bad couple songs put on. I think most of the older albums from back in the day that are classic material have alot less songs than the newer albums being put out nowadays.

I guess to answer your question I think that 15 or 16 tracks including a intro and outro making it 13 or 14 tracks would be plenty if the tracks were heat. Thats my opinion. Peace.

Welcome back Gemini,
Well I fuckin hate skits, interludes, intros, outros and shit... However I like intro or outro when there's a lil rapping or a good music in the background. But it usually tends to be a talking type of stuff.

I've got nothing against 12 track albums, but I prefer 16 songs (with no skips if possible :).

Are you dropping something mayn?

Thanks for the Welcome back...

I'll be dropping "Casualties Of Life" on May 31, 2005.
Got 18 cutz with no intro, outro or skits, but I'm really debating about the next disc I plan to drop (which was the reason for this topic).

Good replies...

I remember intros, outros & skits back in the NWA days and I enjoyed them, but intros, outros etc etc got old after a while.

It got to the point where they got to be too long and some were to the point where it gave off that "You had to be there" feel to em'.

I enjoy intros & outros during the beginning or end of the song, but that's about it.

My opinion is alot of artist put intos & such to kill time & space on the disc...gives them more tracks, but less music.

That's my two on this...

Good shyt fellaz, keep em' comin' if you got em'!

I feel you Gemini on filling the space on discs. Not long ago was there JT's topis about droppin Game's cds. He said sth about having more than 30 tracks of him. Well... it's like about 12 per album, an intro, outro, 2 skits and I have 3 CDS WITH 16 TRACKS. That's what he said. Well to me it smells a lil like deceiving the customers and trying to grab more money.

What's the deal with the rerelease of Casualteis Of Life? Will there be any differences?

hhhmmmm..good question..ive thought about this before myself. It seems like the more songs on a cd or a double cd the worst the cd is.I would say less songs with better quality but how many cd's can you actually say that youve liked every song on it????theres very fews cd's that i can say i liked every song on it.

Long time no hear, Homie good to see you up in here...

As for the re-release of "Casualties Of Life" we filled up the Cd down to 3 seconds left on the 80 min. Cd, so there is no room for hidden tracks or new ones (without removing some). The only thing different is the cover on the inside has a little surprize which will only make sence after the album is heard entirely. And remember, it has no intro, outro or skits...LOL!!!!

...but on the real, I felt that I'd let the music be my intro & outro on that album.

A lot of units were sold no doubt, but the streets keep requesting it, so we're bringing it back.

For those who slept on it, I think it's a way for them to see what my angle is in the game...before I release my next & new project "Gemini: Walking Tall" which will have a surprize of it's own.

Back to the topic...

Well, I'm loving the replies:

I'm feeling what Flipyawig said about liking every song on the Cd, but I'm also seeing what askG and a lot of others said about making sure they are all sluppers, which leads to one conclusion...it's all a matter of opinion.

...but that's the way the game goes & I'm lovin' it!

Keep em' ccmin'!

skits are coool if they are funny or if they explain a song, or have emotion. p folks has a skit where he makes a tribute to his lost uncle, thats tight to me, and tre 8 had a skit about a fool tryin to shoot him and gettin shot in the process, then the next song is called bang bang, that worked well, i dont skip this skit because it seems to add on to the song ya feel? but as far as track numbers, that shit dont matter as long as you dont have like 4 tracks or 18 tracks with 10 skits, keep the number of skits down and number of tracks at least at 12-14 and you'll be doin fine.
