If anything, he probably receives between $2-$4 per cd. And that's a high margin. He probably hasn't begun to reap the benefits of sales. That's why it's important to him for MTVu to push him, so he can actually begin to see his money.
I know for a fact that he doesn't see that much money while touring, either. When he rents out Remington's, it costs close to $2,000 just for the nightly rent, damage insurance, electric hook-ups, manager/owner fee, merchandising, etc.
And the artists, for the most part, buy their own food and drinks with money they've made over the month, not money they've been alotted per day.
