I ask this cause I see alot of posts on here asking if *___________ will be dropping anything new soon. Usually the cat they are asking about, just dropped am album like 2 months ago. So how long should an artist wait till he drop new shit? Should he just saturate the game like I see alot of these cats doing? Remember back in the day when Short used to drop an album a year, nowadays fools is comin with 5 projects a month. And folks ask why "the Bay" dont blow....

Take time, put in work on your album, quality over quantity. You can either have 5 projects on the shelf that are half-assed, or one album that you put your heart in that will stand the test of time cause it was tight then a muthafucca....

*put any name there you would like

I agree with quality over quanitity. I would say every two years at the longest. One thing I that I could do without is artists that say they are comin out with a cd this year, and then that shit dont come out for like 2 years. Dont start talking about it until you KNOW FOR SURE when it is comin out. cause if they make us wait hella long, we hella anticipate it, and chances are, it aint that tight. the less anticipation, the less we expect from it.

EVERY YEAR, GIVE OR TAKE 2-3 MONTHS.... WHEN JIVE WAS DROPPIN ALL THEM QUALITY SPICE 1, CELLY CEL, E-40 ETC... ALBUMS, IT WAS A ALBUM EVERY YEAR, THIS WHOLE DROPPIN A ALBUM ON 5 DIFFERENT LABELS EVERY 4-5 MONTHS IS A HORRIBLE IDEA.... IT MEANS PEOPLE ARE SPENDING VERY LITTLE TIME PROMOTING EACH ALBUM, AND PUTTING EACH ALBUM TOGETHER TOO FAST, BUT WHO AM I TO STOP SOMEONES HUSTLE, I STILL FEEL YOUR ALBUMS MORE WORTHY THO, IF YOU MAKE PEOPLE WAIT AND ANTICIPATE YA SHIT, AND TAKE YOUR TIME TO DROP TITE TRAX, AND SPEND THE NEEDED TIME TO PROMOTE PROPERLY...

I say 1 album/year. Nowadays folks either drop something right away or they wait hella long. I remember when Cube used to drop a CD every fall, this was the perfect amount of time between albums to release 2-3 videos/singles and then be ready with new material...

the reason cats keep dropping shit is cuz cats are buy it..even if you think these cats are wack az hellllll some one is buying enuff cds for them too make a lil money and press up the next project...it a shame but its true and thats why the bay is flooded now..............

just to add whut i said.

project meaning say your solo album, soundtrack, lable mates album, compilations.

i swoop em all as long as it's tight.

that way you get to hear where their going with the releases and if it's not consistent than i can give a fuck!

i'll just look out for who's comin the hardest just cause i like someone on a particular lable not mean ama like his homie!

that "over saturation" is over money. if you're not in it for the love of the game, go back to where you came.
take your time with shit. like you said, 5 half-assed albums or a classic album.

LOOK AT PAC, AND HOW QUICK HE KNOCKED SHIT OUT. ALL EYES ON ME WAS MADE REAL QUICK LIKE. BUT ITS THE BEST ALBUM TO EVER DROP.

I THINK ITS LIKE THIS. IF YOUR IN IT FOR THE MUSIC, AND ACTUALLY HAVE TALENT. YOU CAN KNOCK SHIT OUT SO QUICK SO FAST. BECAUSE YOU LOVE DOING IT. LIKE MY FOLKS WHO PRODUCES. MAKES BEATS ALL DAY LONG, ALLWAYS CALLIN ME UP GOING PEEP THIS ITS FIRE. HE LOVES MUSIC. HE AINT MADE A PENNY OFF IT YET, AND ISNT TRYING TO RIGHT NOW.

I THINK THATS THE PROBLEM. IF YOU LISTINT TO OLD SHIT. E-40 3 X KRAZY, CELLY CEL, SPICE 1, RICHIE RICH. THEY WAS PASSOINET ABOUT THAT SHIT. YOU COULD TELL THEY LOVED MUSIC AND LOVED WHAT THEY WERE DOING. WHERE AS NOW. EVERYONE SPITS. 1/5 PEOPLE IN CALI PROBABLY THINKS HES A RAPPER.

PLUS NOW EVERYONE COPIES EVERYONES STYLE. SO MUSIC IS SHIT. ITS NOT THERE OWN.

AN ALBUM A YEAR IS COOL. BUT AN ALBUM EVERY 7 MONTHS IS THE WAY IT SHOULD BE. ALBUM DROPS WITH A SINGLE, 2 AND HALF MONTHS LATER ANOTHE SINGLE. 2 AND HALF MONTHS THE THIRD SINGLE DROPS. AND PROMOTION STARTS FOR THE NEW CD. AT 7MONTHS DROP THE ALBUM AND SINGLE FOR THE NEW ALBUM

i think it is about quality too,if you can make a tight album in 6-9 months then cool,if it takes you 2 years thats cool too, just make sure it is on point no matter what, especially when it has been over a year and a half or so,cause you know ppl will be fiendin for it.
