since i was ending 5th grade going into middle school. my best friend's brother was a dj and had all the old shit so i listened to it when i was young.

when i was like 10 i guess my older cousins would listen to like E-40,too short,luniz spice 1 richir rich so i guess around like 10 years ago

Since Too Short "The Ghetto", Spice One "Welcome to the ghetto", Paris "The Devil made me do it", And Digital Underground "Freaks of the Industry" were on heavy rotaion on KMEL. Or I guess you could say when the "Humpty Dance" and "can't touch this" were on heavy rotation on on KMEL and Rick Chase (R.I.P.) was the most dangerous DJ and he used to just piss fools off and hang up on mothafuckas. lol.

I moved to the bay from long beach in 1990....I heard a few bay songs on the radio, but I didn't really pay attention to music (in general, not just from the bay) until a few years later

back in the early 90's me and my pops used to ride to that Too $hort Get In Where You fit In after that I was on alot of Oakland shit Richie Rich, Dru Down, Luniz and 3 X's now I got more bay cds in my collection than any other region

i think this question needs to be re-thought cuz shit i have been listenin since Short was around...but never really was like oh shit bay music...i think MD juss brought it on stronger fer the bay to really feel proud of its own definitive sound...i listened to 3xKrazy, Dru Down, and shit...fuck i was pretty young...but what i am sayin maybe since im older i notice it more...

how come the artists referenced in the poll don't include too short, rbl posse, or 4tay? these were the ppl doin it big outside the bay & settin trends. i got laced with the game from them while in AZ. i didn't come to the bay til '97.

I mentioned short in here homeboy. What do you think 75 Girls is? It came out in the early eighty's.
