my bro is a cpa, but he's too straight edge. He had me paying the government some money so I said fuck it and did it myself with turbo tax. Got a refund too.

The first year i did my taxes I did them by hand by myself with my father's guidance (I think I was 15 or 16). Ever since then I've just used Turbo Tax.

TurboTax has all the options. All the new tax laws, every kind of deduction you could make. I've used it for the past 6 years, and my only complaint is the price (I can be a cheapass when it comes to paying taxes), costs 40 for fed and 30 for state.

shit...$40 is a little more than I wanted to spend ($0)....Looks like I'll be relying on myself or my home boy (he's interning at a firm).

a friend of my mom has his own business as a notary, tax person, etc.

so i go to him and just hand him my school form and w2, and he only charges me like $30-50.

Not sure how the US tax system differs from the Australian one - the government sends out booklets to each house, and you simply fill it out and hand it up at the post office. I haven't had to hand one up for a few years though since I started studying.

Before Turbo Tax I did them myself.

Now it's all Turbo Tax takes a fraction of the time.

I can't imagine paying someone to do it for me (or paying for turbo tax)!
